The bears will most likely want NZ2 because they'll be the ones running the show over there, where as Perth will be control
Yes I’m sure that will be the ideal for them but that runs a big risk they dont get in at all if the Perth bid blows the nz bid out of the water, even with the bears as part of it. It sounds like the wa govt is very serious about getting a club in, and they are fully coined after $11billion surplus budgets, that could be a game changer before we even consider the much bigger market and financial strength perth brings. Is bears plus nz2 enough to overcome a very strong perth bid? Interesting times!

There's no Perth bid yet (maybe no nz2 either). How can one be stronger than other?!
Looking strictly at location nz2 bring both fox & skytv money.

no there isn’t, and either city may have something come totally out of the blue that we haven’t foreseen. I mean it’s only this week we have got conformation wa givt is seriously backing a future bid. we don’t know skynz is willing to pay more, if they are that will certainly be a plus for nz2.
But going on what we know right now…….

perth:
3 big money backers
population
major company base
serious govt support
Ltd jnr development
ok stadium

nz2
1 possible bid led by chalmers who needs to find funding partners
amazing stadium in one location, poor stadium in other
small populations
ltd corporate base
good history of jnr development to nrl

Interesting thanks, still dont understand how the Sydney jnr system works lol so who feeds the mounties snr nsw cup and womens teams?

I was thinking more Wynnum seagulls, tweed heads makes sense as Titans feeder

GROTB you know the qlnd cup landscape, any clubs in there you think would be interestEd in being a partner in a WA bid?

The clubs switch allegiances regularly. Souths Logan were with Canberra and Sunshine Coast with Manly Warringah over a decade ago, but that was killed when the sooks at the NSWRL chucked a tantrum and put an end to it because other Sydney NRL clubs wanted to follow suit and align with Queensland Cup clubs. It's another reason to hate Sydney and its backwards clubs and administrators who want to sit on a hill like a hillbilly because they live in 1932.

Clubs like Souths Logan, Ipswich Jets and Central Queensland Capras would benefit the most as direct feeder teams for a Perth-based NRL club.

The SkyTV money is the big thing in favour of the second New Zealand side. They are not going to get much from Foxtel though

The corporate and sponsorship potential would be another hurdle for NZ 2 against Perth.

Perth is rusted on afl market. Look at crowd for gws today. Can't make finals every season. Lean year means lots of money for NRL to pour. Peter V has stated that he's reluctant to do that.

Sky TV money is biggest factor. Makes expansion idiot proof. Look at Newcastle with their billionaire savior or Clive palmer with gold coast united.

The flip side is the warriors are one of the lowest rated sides on Australian tv so what you gain from skynz you may miss out on from sale of the ninth game to the main partners. Ideally the ninth game is sold to fta To maximise value.

Jets probably stronger bid on it's own. Remember nine would love extra Brisbane content.

Location doesn't matter. Afl latest two clubs draw Perth level NRL numbers. Just the extra game & content is valuable. Nz2 gets both fox & sky TV money. That's why we hear NRL talking this up

and nz is rusted on union. Perth at least has the population and east coast/north English ex pats to have a large hard core rl fanbase as seen in RL crowds here. I’d say nz2 are far more a financial risk than perth unless there is a mega rich consortium willing to back them.
skynz only upped this deal due to competition from streaming. There’s no guarantee they’ll up it again for a second nz team. Their subscription rates are small, especially from rl fans. if skynz double their deal fair enough, can understand. Why nrl would go there. but can’t see it.

Number one for nrl will be financial sustainability. A few mill from skynz won’t matter if they end up with another titans. Cummins sponsoring them, Puddy bringing his business partnerships and the WA govt backing them plus all the corporate support in perth and a 25k hardcore fanbase, perth ticks the sustainability boxes the nrl will be prioritising.

Looking at TV numbers not many NRL fans in Perth. There's union fans because all south Africans. You can point to a few crowds here & there, but that's very different to week in week out.
Nz2 brings players & derby. Sky money is important so nrl talking up nz2 means they working with kiwi TV over there. Kinda like how we knew NRL wanted Brisbane 2 they telegraphing nz2.

Yeh let’s take one metric lol. Rl fans in WA abandoned fta tv 25 years ago! Yeh we can’t go by crowds over the last decade at all. That would be stupid lol.

you might have a point re nrl thinking’s if Vlandys hadnt mentioned perth first in his recent comments on club 18. after talking to wa govt they might have already decided it’s going to be perth.

Great, NRL selected dolphins over bids backed by many unnamed business men. Leagues club isn't going anywhere. TV deal brings longterm stability. Less likely NRL needs to take over. Storm look great but club is completely propped up. Perth probably the same

You do know Storm are one of the few genuinely profitable clubs dont you? yes they backed do,phons because they wanted financial security (and news ltd told them to) , which just goes to prove my point why they’ll choose a financially backed perth over a risky Christchurch.
