Yes he most certainly is. The big difference is that Melbourne have quality players in the positions he should be playing so it's done out of necessity
So, rep players Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker are not quality players according to you? Wow!

Form is temporary, class is permanent mate. Jye is still a rookie don't forget. He has to earn his stripes whereas Cody and Latrell certainly have over their entire careers.

While I'm keen to see how Jye performs in his first ever 1st grade game at 5/8, we shouldn't expect too much of him at this early stage of his career.

While Cody Walker's form and fitness has been down so far this year and for much of last season too to be fair, I think people take for granted what he brings to the side. He calls the shots in attack. When we put on a try, even if he only played a small part and just passed the ball on before the try assist occurred, he called the play. People just think he's doing very little and bag him for not doing "more".

Well. who is directing the attack now he's out? Can Gray or Sullivan do it? Can Latrell do it from fullback? My fear is, no one will and it will represent a bit of a dog's breakfast.

Cody has been our general with the ball - even when Reyno was here. Jye Gray is a great prospect but he isn't our general yet, no knock on him of course. He's still a rookie. Hopefully one day he can become our general. Humphreys too is still green and not there yet but he too can become that one day.

Lets get real eh? Jye Gray is still the apprentice. He has shown great form and potential to start the season after just 7 games, but he's still the back up player for fullback and five-eighth.

The coach certainly doesn't think he has overtaken the incumbents as of yet.

Wayne has confirmed it will be Doddy into the 17 on the bench.

I wouldn't mind if he decided to start Dodd and shift Sully to the bench since Sully covers more positions if needed but, I'm not the coach.

Last year we could have had Wally Lewis or Brett Kenny playing 5/8 and it wouldn’t have made any difference with the side we fielded

I'm trying to find a great quote that very much sums this all up.A long time ago I remember one of the legendary NFL coaches being asked why he put one of his gun players back in the game when he was slightly injured. He haughtily replied to the reporter asking him "Because that's where your best players belong, on the field not twiddling their thumbs on the bench"

No twisting mate. Show me where I have twisted anything. You can be quite offensive mate. Settle down eh?
You said that I said Latrell and Cody were not quality players. That is very much twisting my words. Also, I fail to see where I'm being offensive. Seems instead you are being a bit precious.

You very much implied they are not quality players and your post cannot possibly be interpreted any other way.

In response to my question asking if Tyran Wishart was being "wasted" on the bench, you replied,

"Yes he (Wishart) most certainly is. The big difference is that Melbourne have quality players in the positions he should be playing so it's done out of necessity" which can only mean you think we don't have quality players in the positions Jye Gray should be playing - i.e. 1 & 6 in his case.

No twisting done there mate. You can't have meant anything else.

Where you're being offensive is where you accuse me of twisting your words. I am a straight shooter mate. I don't twist anyone's words and I don't take kindly to being accused of such when it is simply untrue!

Now you call me precious when you have been having kittens over Jye Gray being retained in the 17 but shifted from the number 1 to the bench. Get a grip! I'm getting tired of this nonsensical bun fight.
Go on, have the last word and end this crap already. But please do not hurl anymore names. That won't fly.

Wow! I seem to have struck a nerve. As for not being interpreted any other way, you are spectacularly wrong. I was saying that the players in the positions Wishart could play are his equal or better. For us that is not the case. If you were talking centre then it's no contest. Trell is head and shoulders above Jye. We however are not talking centre but rather fullback where Jye has definitively proven he is superior to Trell. If you're so sick of debating this issue then it's really quite simple. Don't reply. This is a forum, I am here to discuss issues. Don't like my POV then ignore me.

Walker, Ataata and Casey drop out of the squad with Dodd onto the bench and LLB and Fletcher remaining in the 19 man squad.

For the Storm, Nelson has dropped off their reserves list and won't be a late inclusion.

Well here we are Game Day is open us. What a special occasion it is ANZAC Day we all know what this day is about and what it means. I’m happy I don’t have to work today either and the shops are closed. Growing up both my Pop’ on both sides of the family believed the shops should be closed today. My Pop on Mums side is very unwell right now he is in heart failure at hospital we are on our way to visit him again now. He is very thankful today that finally the shops are back to being closed just as it should be, we all wouldn’t be here today able to live free lives etc it wasn’t for what they did for us so as always we are truly thankful. Our boys get to play on this special occasion once more which I’m sure they’re very proud of.

Onto tonight well it’s a tough road trip down to Melbourne. It doesn’t get any tougher. We have had 19 road trips down there for 19 losses it is one of the biggest hoodoos in the game. The day we can finally win down there will be a famous famous one and they day we do it I think my emotions will all come out I won’t be able to hold it in. Can that be tonight? It’s hard to be positive about it up against the premiership favourites coming off a loss and tonight back in their own backyard. We are going to need nothing short of a miracle. Being honest I just want the boys to show some good signs and put in hang in their for solid periods of the game I’ll be happy. The Storm have some injuries but I think we clearly have the bigger outs we are depleted missing so many key players including both starting halves. I really have had a gutful of the injuries we get no luck. I think last year they put 54 on us so let’s hope it doesn’t get that bad tonight.

Looking at the Storm they have threats all over the park. Yes Grant is out but they still have Hughes, Munster who carves us up every time, Pap and they get Meaney back tonight as well and Coates causes us great issues every time. In the pack Uto and J. King do a great job with Loiero holding the middle and then they have Eli Katoa who causes havoc on the edge. They also have a strong bench as well who get through their work. They can leak some points out wide but apart from that do not really have any weaknesses. They are still my tip to take out the premiership this season. What we need to do is try to stop the offloads and limit the penalties etc. We need to try show good line speed in defence and hit them hard. Stand back and watch the Storm will have a field day.

Looking at us we have yet again a new halves pairing in Sullivan and J. Gray. They probably haven’t had much time together as a combo so all we can ask is they do their best. 6 was Jye junior position I think so this is a great opportunity to shows us what he has. We have Trell back at fullback which I think is his best position in this side. Cmon Trell get back to your best and skippering the lads too we need you to lift mate. We see Campbell back at centre which is his best position. With us having 4 wingers injured we have recalled Bentley Hape who is just back from injury. He had a solid debut about a month ago. It’s a big ask tonight though and the Storm will target him like no tomrrow so I can only ask he does his best. In the pack we’ve lost Hubner which is a big blow so we see Arrow to lock and Aitken playing his first game for us in his preferred position in the second row. For us though we need our forwards to step up and produce better than they have. If we make silly errors and give too many silly penalties away the Storm will put 50 on us. The other thing is we know the Storm are fast starters so I hope it’s been discussed that we can’t start slow that first 20mins.

To those in the Burrow that made the trip down I hope it’s a safe trip down there and back. Hopefully the boys give us plenty to cheer about and we can hear that South Sydney chant inside AAMI Stadium.

Ok my fellow Rabbitohs faithful everyone at around 8pm tonight ON YA FEET WEARING THOSE COLOURS PROUDLY LETS HOPE OUR BOYS GIVE US A FEW THINGS TO CHEER ABOUT AND DO US PROUD! It’s time to bite on those mouth guards and rip the f**k in and show some grit!

Well, that was a very gutsy first half by our boys to hang in there, defend their best, scrap away and put some attack on to be 10-all at the break!

Yes, the Storm looked the better side for much of the half but the scoreboard says what it says. Can we spring the upset?

Feel proud of the boys and it's already a great comeback from last week's disaster.

We're a puncher's chance but we've got to keep punching.
