From what I’ve seen here I have no concerns that a perth club cant match the bigger current nrl clubs for attendances and memberships. 16k avg crowd and 25k members Is definitely doable within our first decade, especially of the stadium get another upgrade and increased capacity.

Lions won 3 premierships then needed to be bailed out. In past decade afl has dropped 200 million in western Sydney & still only 50 ppl turned up for a game yesterday. Above all else Perth had a team & it only lasted a few seasons.

Swans & storm are strategically important so they get all types of support & importantly are never allowed to lose. Perth won't get that treatment.

The fact he said Brisbane needed another team to counter AwFuL but brought in The Dolphins instead of Firehawks proves he doesn't have a clue about Queensland or was telling lies. Redcliffe is about 40km away from the Lions. Firehawks are just a few kilometres away. If it was all about countering AwFuL then he would have brought in the Firehawks.

You know the circumstances: Adelaide and Perth didn’t fail, they were booted out at the behest of a media company. Their numbers were better than a lot of Sydney clubs- so stop using this in your arguments that we shouldn’t go there.

If Dolphins were introduced because Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast is a growing region with almost 800k people between them then their admission has nothing to do with combating fumbleball.

How are The Dolphins going to combat the Lions when they're based over 40 km away?

Firehawks would have been better placed to send players to schools in eastern Brisbane and Logan to get kids thinking only about rugby league as they have junior clubs in the region. Local juniors could play for their subdistrict Tigers club then represent Easts Juniors, Easts Tigers, Brisbane Tigers and Brisbane Firehawks. Dolphins won't be able to do that, so there's no reason for kids in eastern Brisbane and Logan to choose the Dolphins over fumbleball.

Dolphins are going to struggle to win over mass support in eastern Brisbane, Redlands and Logan as they're not the local team. Easts Tigers represent eastern Brisbane and Logan and, Wynnum Manly represent Redlands.

the afl club grants avgs out at $17.5mill per club if all got the same. They are too smart for that though and know if you want to support genuine expansion of your business it takes investment.

Last pre covid year lions got $5.5mill above that avg. they also had 28k members and a 24k crowd avg. that would put them in the top 2 or 3 nrl clubs for fan support. Geez I hope perth is that big a failure lol

Well if your asking me I would say sure afl expansion has been a huge failure

At a cost of close to 150 million a year they have gotten maybe 100k actual fans in nsw and a similar number in Queensland

200k actual fans out of over ten million 10 million people would be considered a major failure by most

I think there should be a side in the south of Brisbane - I probably would have picked them first due to the idea of a rivalry with the Broncos and to combat the AFL; nevertheless the Dolphins can work.

The logo and marketing for the Easts bid was abysmal though. If they just named themselves the Raptors or the Hawks for instance, they would have been a lot better served

Sorry but you’re wrong all ends up lol. pre covid year it was $23mill and $27.8mill.
There is no avg clubs get as it’s a variable grant system. If you want to take the total and split it by number of teams then pre covid year it was $17.4mill avg.

afl is super smart, the reality is they aren’t paying anymore for the expansion clubs thatn if they gave every club $17.4mill.
the other clubs that can afford to receive less in their grants are. That’s some clever management sht right there!
