Problem is not every club region is equal. Nor is every clubs ability to spend big on pathways. Some clubs by the pure geography and socio economic make up of population have much bigger jnr participation rates. That’s got nothing to do with what the nrl club is doing. Some clubs have big pokie dens than can spend big on elite pathway programs and entice the best kids from other clubs areas,

so to reward clubs that already have significant advantages over others seems somewhat unfair.

I note panthers are out signing players from other clubs at the moment to fill some of their gaps from players moving on. it’ll be interesting if this was a fluke generational one off period for them or if they can keep bringing through local talent at that talent level. Juries out.

It doesn't have to be though.

Sharks for example are boxed in by water so are limited but do work with Coffs Harbour area. That expands their area.

As for us. Yes we got Talagi but the 20 year old fullback Parra got in return will be a star.

Storm had 2 Penrith guys debut v Cowboys the other week that is how a free market works

Yes but imagine if every club developed juniors, the Panthers have to release players who have come through their junior nursery.
So the Panthers should be rewarded with Premierships, but should the Roosters ?, should the Bulldogs ?.
Two clubs who just continue to buy players here, there and everywhere.
Don’t believe the Bulldogs deserve to be in the same conversation as the Roosters, neither historically nor into the future.

It is, but Im not the one calling for salary cap bonuses for 'producing' players.

All clubs recruit at the junior level.

Plenty of Bulldog products coming through the ranks at the moment.
And thats the problem, what constituters a 'jnr'? Does the player have to have been born and played all his life in the clubs catchment, or joined the club at HM ball age, or sg ball age, or Flegg age? or just debuted at NR; level for the club?

I often hear the 'we should reward clubs that produce players'. with little consideration to what 'produce' actually means.
