How is Vlandys doing due diligence and rejecting bid which allegedly lied and is broke (according to article) not the correct path?!
you cant ask bids if they'd pay a license fee, then slam them for saying no. If a license fee was expected as part of the submission it should have been stated so. Its absolutely ludicrous to make it mandatory AFTER tenders have been submitted. What a joke of an organisation.

You think there's another group of business peope in WA willing to sink $60mill into an NRL club after this farce? yeh right.
WA Government is from WA…

Remember they approached Norths in 2022.

Question is are you an actual WA NRL supporter or just Peter Cumins supporter?

Once you pick than your stance will soften and you won’t be so worked up mate. It’s not end of the world, just a reset. That’s business. Better things on the horizon.

If it comes down to paying the 60 million bears could do it and own it all

The arlc could still appoint an independent director / also wa govt to ensure it’s run properly

Norths have the people behind them plus their own assets to raise that money

What a waste of everybody's time!! Still chasing backers after their submission. Meanwhile, jets got singo, PNG the Aussie govt and there's big money in NZ.

The nswrl made a huge mistake bringing in Paul Morgan as owner of the broncos and his arrogant style lead to clashes with the nswrl which led to super league

Obviously the arlc didn’t feel confident in Cummins as a club owner they have to deal with in the future regarding salary cap club grants etc

Just hang on their buddy. In your absence we chose the next three teams, the television schedule and the new stadiums required. And we’ve done it on a strong reliability of rumour innuendo and news limited journalism. How could we have got it so wrong?

They had backers and rejected them because they were Bears people. They chose to instead accept the Bears brand and IP and finance it themselves.

Only to be trapped in a corner and needed to go into Sydney to get investors anyways (so long as they weren’t the Bears people). These Bears people aren’t even board members, just people with cash to invest into something they are passionate about.

“eventually the Western Bears will have Bears people on the board who won’t be current Norths board members”…….

Who were Perth's backers at the start of the year and why were they trying to cajole kings people last week?!

WA govt has been clear from the outset they have no intention of owning a club. If they were happy to stump up the $30mill license fee they'd have done so and the WA consortium would still be in play.

Im a 'whats best for WA rugby league' supporter. And thats a WA club, not a fifo East coast club.

Looking back on the “18th club, who’s next ?” thread, Peter V’Landys was never ever keen on dealing with Peter Cumins.
Looks like they are still very keen on a WA Bears team, just with different people running it.
Just when we thought a positive official announcement was coming, then bang.
Sounds like the Bears dobbed Peter Cumins in to the Headmaster V’Landys for the way he was treating them, six of the best was given, the rest is now yesterdays news.
Interesting times ahead.

It wasnt a FIFO club on the weekend when you hosted a get together?

Nothing changes.

“I find it strange when talking about Western Bears or NRL expansion that PVL always mentions WA Premier Roger Cook and never Cumins or the bid team”

From what I heard the bears left everything up to Cummins and the arlc to work out themselves trusting the process

The fact it failed is purely on Cummins

I wonder if the Telegraph feels a bit foolish with their front page stories a couple of months back ?

The Perth media seemed a lot more subdued in comparison
