There is still a lot of water to pass under the bridge. Initial talks have been very positive.

All these reports that came out yesterday were based on news stemming from the negotiations had a few weeks ago. Im certain the situation and make up of proposal has evolved one way or another since then.

At the end of the day… i just want there to be a team in Perth … not for me to support, but just for the growth of the game …

You gotta admit ..this whole process has been at best convoluted, and at worst a downright negative … I dont know whether it’s entirely the fault of the Sydney media or not annointing them prematurely ..( they must have been getting the info from somewhere ) …but if I was a prospective new “fan” in Perth who perhaps doesn’t follow the game that closely .. I would be scratching my head what is going on …

You would think this could have all been sorted out a long time ago in private … PVL must have thought that someone like Gina or Twiggy were just going to come out of the blue in the open tender process throwing around millions … you would have to admit it hasn’t been a great way to start off the new team if they get over the line?

So to summarise the insider information

The insider looked at construction costs from 6 years ago and compared to today, and decided since it's more now, it's wrong.
The insider told his mates at the Bears that he's an expert and can determine the costs better than anyone, and therefore they should tell the WA govt.
The Bears tell Vlandys to ask for that money to be reallocated.
The insider tells all the cultists that some dumbarse at the Bears listened to his garbage and now they are approaching the govt.
The WA govt laughed and said thanks, but we'll listen to the actual experts.

Process is warped I can’t argue that but that to me isn’t the issue as far as this forum is concerned.

On this forum things were spelt out pretty clearly how the intention was looking like it would be, all the way back in May. We eventually got to this point.

It hasn’t been seamless by any stretch. The actual process is what it is and you just need to accept it for how it’s played out. We don’t know the NRL’s endgame and until it’s fully laid out all we can do is hold on to our seats on this ride.

There is a plan and whatever that plan is it’s clear we don’t have all the variables for it. I don’t think the intention of WA PNG and SI NZ has ever changed in this whole process, just fluctuated.

If the alts don’t believe his views and think he’s making stuff up why not just ignore his comments and move on

There are many people that want to know what’s going on and the recent media reports have been confusing

If people weren’t such dks this Information would be shared publically

Agree with alot of the above. NRL thought private investors would be lining up around the block to invest in a new club, has not turned out that way and now they are trying to get govt to kick in more money as well as themselves which was not their plan A or probably even plan B. They can dress it up with PR spin but not a good look for PVL spruiking the NRL as the most watched sport in Australia yet only PNG is given the go ahead which is only because it is being bankrolled by Australian taxpayers and not having any other expansion team as investors don't see it as a good investment.

It might turn out fine in the end, and although you can expect some hiccups in bidding and setting up a new club, but as a few have commented here, the process has been less than ideal.

This $120m cash shouldn’t be an addition on top of what is already committed. Simply a diversion from one committed aspect into another potential aspect.

HBF doesn’t need so much cash for a revamp considering it’s almost identical cost to what Panthers are getting and their stadium (Penrith) requires vastly more comprehensive works done on it compared to HBF.

You can do HBFs intended upgrades for $200m leaving that extra $100m freed up. Whoever estimated HBF’s upgrades at $300m has rocks in their head.

That extra $100m can then theoretically be used on setting up an NRL club in WA if WA wants it bad enough.

So in the end the taxpayers wouldn’t be forking out anymore than what was already committed by their state government. This is the narrative that should be used. Simply reporting a number without context and having locals freak out is poor dealings by the local media.
A new corporate west stand, roof over south stand and sorting out the north end is going to cost more than $200mill! This might be our one and only chance to see HBF Park finished off!

Where has this $12mill a year for ten years come from for running costs? With the full NRL grant a club shouldn't need anything close to that level of extra revenue. The Western bears bid estimated that it would take $26mill to set the club up, build team (3 years) facilities until the Govt built CofE is ready and employ everyone and start up jnr sides between now and 2027 when the grant and other revenue kicks in.

WA Govt has committed to stadium upgrades, CofE facilities and jnr funding. If we are asking them to take 25% of funds out of that commitment then something has to give, big time.

WA Consortium has no assets or infrastructure and would be reliant on WA Government regardless.

Why would the middle man be required if the outcome is the same without them? The $30m that was alleged raised for the bid was prospective investment anyways - not like it was already sitting in a bank account ready to be rolled out. What if one of those investors takes a hit between now and 2027 then can’t commit to their share of that $30m?

Then the NRL and WA Gov would be chipping in anyways. Why not take that uncertainty and unnecessary risk away and just do it themselves
?

PNG is similar in the fact that the $60m license fee is a diversion from the $600m government commitment. It’s not an extra amount on top of.
what if? Sounds like a Marvel series lol
You dont think there was legal agreements in place?

I think the private investors only wanted to funding the team.

not training venues, housing etc. govt are best to fund this stuff moving forward

"We want yet another Sydney team back in the comp, and we'll get the WA Govt to pay for it!"

That's Donald V'landys for ya.

The WA Govt ain't contributing 2/3rds of f**k all to a code that isn't a popular vote winner.
WA state election next year. Being able to say they have helped WA secure another major sports team will be a good thing, telling taxpayers they've spent $120mill on running it, less so! I can only imagine what a field day the AFL press will have here on that.
Like I said this Plan B was presented to WA Govt acouple of weeks ago, I was told at that time by the people making the decisions the WA govt 'are not in the business of funding or owning prof sports teams'. Unless he has been overridden by the Premier I'd say the odds of it happening are slim.

Paying for a CoE and housing for players isn't owning or running a team

WA Govt has already committed to that ($450mill worth of the rumours are to be believed). I had it confirmed from source this included significant stadium upgrade (essential to club revenue generation), a centre of excellence and HQ for the club and NRLWA, and funding for jnrs particularly increased SHS program and female participation programs.

Now vlad has decided he doesn't like the WB bid he is asking them to actually fund the running of the club, something totally different and highly unlikely to happen.

If the NRL is happy to walk away from a $30mil investment and wants to own, fund and run the club, go for it stop dawdling and announce it.

Are you in the belief that everyone has a sad existence like yourself and hasn’t accomplished things in their life and that everyone on this forum must be a Woolworths night fill employee?

For Christ sakes, I’m in Queensland. We had Commonwealth Games six years ago. A lot of sporting things were built in that time. I know you’re a natural born cynic but that’s more reflection of yourself not on others.

Don’t ask questions if all you’re gonna do is bag the answers because it doesn’t suit whatever preconceived notion you have in that little brain of yours. There’s people on this forum from all walks of life.

Yea i understand construction and all costs involved with it. Its my job.
We spent $100 mill building the East stand and uncovered south stand in 2011. Since then building prices have gone through the roof (as youd know being in the industry). Building a new 8k+ corporate stand, platinum members area and player and media facilities alone would be well in the $200mill price tag range now Id have thought?

Add in the extra seats and roof planned for south stand, then whatever they decided to do with North stand and that $350mill budgeted amount for stadium upgrade looks in the ball park.

Its Vlads leadership MO. In fact I am totally staggered the club license agreement has happened without a massive fight and leaked bias media coverage. Very unlike him!

Lets be honest its been a mess and avoidable with better management and media control. Its left a bad taste in the West and dampened the excitement that was building. Not a great way to give birth to a new club. Even if it happens it looks like we have been lumped with an East coast brand owned and run by east coast people. In a place as parochial as WA that will be a big perception issue to overcome for the club.

Commbank cost $360m (estimated at $300m originally) for something brand new with bigger capacity.
Panthers $300m for essentially a new stadium.
QBC Stadium cost $318m for the entire precinct (estimated at $250m for stadium alone) for something brand new.

So what kind of upgrade-only project is going cost more than $200m for just 8k additional seating capacity considering majority of facilities and structure remains? Again, whoever estimated that has rocks in their head. Seriously.

I feel better knowing that I didn't provide unsolicited advice and end up costing myself getting my team back.
None of what you said makes any sense. It’s like you aren’t following what’s being stated and are just intermittently adding your 2 bobs and looking like a dimwit in the process.

Before yesterday I didn’t even know who you were on here because if you have ever had an opinion in the past it clearly wasn’t important enough to acknowledge it and therefore remember you.

At least Greeny is sometimes witty when he wants to be. You on the other hand are just a mushroom that’s sprouting up in cowshit.
