I would be astonished if any private investor bidding for a team would build a stadium or even a COE. That would always be govt funded. Private money as you pointed out would be for the setting up and running the team and maybe minimal building infrastructure.

Which is why no bids were successful.

Every NRL club has a CoE the new teams would be even more on the backfoot without them, So sadly it means govt funds are needed

Nobody is arguing against govt funding for infrastructure as it benefits the community. Building a CoE isn't an operational expense.

WA Govt has already committed to that ($450mill worth of the rumours are to be believed). I had it confirmed from source this included significant stadium upgrade (essential to club revenue generation), a centre of excellence and HQ for the club and NRLWA, and funding for jnrs particularly increased SHS program and female participation programs.

Now vlad has decided he doesn't like the WB bid he is asking them to actually fund the running of the club, something totally different and highly unlikely to happen.

If the NRL is happy to walk away from a $30mil investment and wants to own, fund and run the club, go for it stop dawdling and announce it.

If they agreed to it. it would be announced already.

Your mate Cummins is clearly telling you BS

You: the estimated cost of Perth upgrades is too high
Others: how would you know
You: look at the price of that stadium built 6 years ago

Don't worry, maybe the WA govt will come back and say "actually yeah that guy who hasn't seen the plans knows more than our experts who designed and costed it".

Actually my reference was Panthers stadium. Which hasn’t even commenced construction. I used Commbank and QCB stadiums as references to compare new builds to revamps.

Keep up.

Secondly estimators are estimators. Here’s a case study for you - Multiplex originally priced the new build Coomera Hospital at $1.66b. It was reviewed, reassessed and concluded that the exact same build can now be done for $1.3b which ultimately won them the government contract. This project has just broken ground so it’s as new as it comes.

There are metrics to assess how much a project can be constructed for and there’s worst case with plenty of contingency built in and best case with the costs being on the mark and contingency not necessarily required.

$300m for something that’s only getting upgraded isn’t reflective of market, no matter how much the market has inflated and gone up. You can almost build a brand new 25,000 stadium for that much.

There’s plenty of project management, construction management and estimating courses, diplomas and degrees you can enrol yourself in mate.

The fact you think I advised the NRL or Bears about something of this magnitude shows what a moron you are.

WA govt has already said it will build the WA team a CofE. Thats not why that particular bid was unsuccessful.

Commbank cost $360m (estimated at $300m originally) for something brand new with bigger capacity.
Panthers $300m for essentially a new stadium.
QBC Stadium cost $318m for the entire precinct (estimated at $250m for stadium alone) for something brand new.

So what kind of upgrade-only project is going cost more than $200m for just 8k additional seating capacity considering majority of facilities and structure remains? Again, whoever estimated that has rocks in their head. Seriously.

The Stands look good just lacks a roof and Corporates, so essentially building a 2nd tier on the stands should be heaps cheaper than Penrith

my conversation was with someone who would know EXACTLY what the Govt is committing. Not to mention Roger Cook already confirmed what the WA govt was willing to fund.

The main stand at hbf comprises three seperate stands the whole thing needs to go

The ground has poor corporate facilities currently too

Clearly not or Penrith wouldn't be costing $310mill for a half arsed two stand rebuild! A new commbank is probably $500-650mill at todays prices. If it was $300mill they wouldnt be spending $350mill on HBF Park, theyd be building a new rectangular stadium at Burswood!

Even your mate wb has been telling you Penrith's upgrade is basic and it still costs $300m. Keep up.

Panthers is only getting two stands done and one stand is quite modest

You can see how budget those stands look

Pretty much like Newcastle’s home ground

So you are saying the WA government was not funding a CoE in the original bid but is looking to do so now? The WA government has always said they will help fund infrastructure but not run/own the team. I would suggest the NRL was after as big a pay day it could get from the bidders to share around to the existing clubs while also ensuring the new team(s) were on a sound financial footing and no investors were willing to front up that much cash so NRL now negotiating with WA government to see how much they can squeeze from them which will depend on how desperate the government are for a team. PVL managed to get 600m from us taxpayers with 60m to go the clubs for PNG team. Lets see where this lands.

The Dragons don't have a CoE yet. The Tigers have had one for a couple of years which has given them space to display their 3 spoons.

The figures mentioned in the radio link you posted. Comes in under $450m, If the govt had agreed then why is it an issue?
why is what an issue? The Govt has committed to a HBF park rebuild, a CofE construction and Jnr funding. The amount is rumoured to be $450mill with $350mill of that committed to HBF park.

The news this week, which some of us knew as Plan B about two weeks ago, is that the NRl wants the WA govt to also contribute a significant sum to start up and operational costs of a WA club. If the WA govt will pay that or remains in its position of not being willing to fund the operations of a prof sports club remains to be seen. Last I heard two weeks ago from the horses mouth is they werent.
