It's the exact opposite.

PVL has already ruled out SEQ4, and NZ2 has no financial backing.

We are literally being choosy beggars here
Absolutely garbage statement, Brisbane Tigers are chomping at the bit to enter, aswell as anywhere bears, I'm sure any of the nz bidders would pay to play

With the exception of Brisbane Easts all will need grassroots upgrades.

Even Ipswich will need work should it include Toowoomba etc.

North sydney? They have 117 years of grassroots covered, fk the WA government, if they are wanting to play, they'll need to pay, in some sort of way, (im not talking about investment in their own backyard either)

if not...
Adelaide Bears,

I still don't understand the Bears role in this, they seem to be offering diddly squat and PVL is just guaranteed there return.
A fully fledged club with an established supporter base, strong brand, and pre-existing pathways. A lot of work already done, just ready to send west.

They're also the only party who haven't done anything to cause the current mess where expansion looks to be in limbo.

Adelaide Bears,

That little part of Sydney prob produces 3 or so NRL guys but Perth has always wanted and hard to argue with mostly locals.,

To do that takes investment to get to that standard

Interjecting here - Ipswich grassroots both club and school comps are strong. It’s only their opens that give off the vibe they suck because their Q Cup side does suck.

Numbers are increasing. 10-13% junior participation increase in 2024 from 2023. Adding Toowoomba is a natural progression of course - as is the entire corridor all the way to Dalby and Roma if not beyond it really.

Bit like Gold Coast then, including rural and semi rural areas in the catchment with the metro area

Ipswich itself I know is strong.

If an big IF the bring in another QLD like the Dolphins you would expect big boundaries and generally the game in the regions needs work.

That said the area having a junior rep team and a QCUp team the work needed would be minor

Perth has said all along it wants locals where possible.. The NRL clearly agrees but has laid out the costs.

either it is acceptable or not is where it sits
Well it clearly is not.

‘The WA government confirmed it had rejected the NRL’s initial funding request. WA government insiders say it has no interest in pouring tens of millions of dollars of taxpayer money into what amounts to a “subsidy” for the NRL’ - AFR article

and who could blame them. When nrl is putting in less than $1mill a year into WA grassroots an ask of $12mill a year seems ridiculous.

lets just compare to the tassie situation as that seems to be where the mystery $12mill figure has come from.

tassie govt is putting in $144mill to help fund the club and afl is matching with a $120mill contribution in grassroots and other areas plus a larger than avg grant.

nrl wants $120mill from wa govt. and is putting in what? $30mill or so start up costs And the standard grant? Hmmmmmmm.

We could just go with a different option.

Dont make the same mistake of taking expansion as guaranteed.

It’s not a little part of Sydney

And more importantly it’s the richest part of Australia in aggregate

From north Sydney out to Asquith and then down Mosman to the spit bridge

Also most posh union schools in Sydney are in its borders so another pathway for league to raid

Not so much those ones they don’t

The ones they are hitting are areas which have nrl clubs (trinity kings Newtington and a little bit of cranbrook)

Wallabies just got a junior from Asquith

Cmon … there is nothing stopping NRL clubs targeting Union juniors from those schools now … you don’t need the Perth Bears playing in the competition to do it
