Well they should just send all the future naughty druggy players there like Ezra, JAC, Latrell, Brandon Smith etc afterall they will be in a compound.
It will be the only way for PNG to get quality NRL players tax exemption or not.
Png won’t need long before team is mostly locals

Based on the kumuls side there’s a core there already for an nrl team

Their juniors are booming off the back of 2 years of the elite pilot program

It will only ever be locals and fringe first graders, imagine taking your young family over there, I’ve spoken to a fair few NRL players and asked them if they would play over there, most of them have played over in PNG in Test matches and in the Prime Ministers 13 game and while they said the experience was unreal they could never, ever live over there.
Geez if players don’t want to go and play for the NZ Warriors why would they go and play for PNG ?.

Saving 400 k in tax over 5 years for an elite player reaching the end of his career

They won’t need junior Aussies just a core of experienced players

Which most of the experienced players will have families, good luck with that, I can see the players wives meeting on the compound corner for coffee or sunbaking around the compounds poolside, with the kids playing in the compound play ground lol.
Until one of the kids kicks the ball over the compound fence, hopefully there will be an outer surrounding fence around the compound fence for morning joggers lol.
It’s what is waiting on the outside of the compound fence that is the real worry.
But don’t worry PNG is a safe place, that is why you are living in a compound, seriously you can’t make this shit up lol.

Cummins provided an update at the WA Past Players Association on Saturday.

Ceo, Head Coach, Head of Football, Ken Allen Redevelopment, Player Accommodation, SG Ball & Harold Matthews for 2026 were all ready to go for an announcement post GF.

At this stage he has no ongoing communication from with the NRL and the NRL are only dealing with the state government as reported.

The bid team was in the room at the GF function and V'landy didn't even have the curtesy to give the team a heads up about issues with the bid before announcing it publicly.

All the leaks have be pushed to put Cummins in a bad light, everyone forgets the millions he has poured into WA Rugby League over the last 30 years.

Gee whiz. It’s almost as if they’ve been told their bid failed and the NRL won’t consider working with them into the future or something.

That is the whole point Matt - the bid team had spend $700,000 to prepare a very significant document that was pumping millions into both Perth & North Sydney Rugby League and V'landy or Abdo couldn't even contact them to discuss the issues before going public. Extremely poor form.

There were never any guarantees.

He obviously did things that made the arl not want to deal with him

So the reports seem clear that pvl did terminate his bid and is going on a new path without him

What could the potential reasons be why pvl got ticked off ?

1. Ignoring requests by Peter Beattie to Cummins twice that the license fee needed to be close to 20 million

2. Talking up how strong wa would be then having to go to Sydney investors

3. Taking on board investors who might be people the arl didn’t want to deal with

4. Not allowing investors close to the bears to invest

5. Potentially (and this is a guess) trying to revive the reds brand in some way into the bid and this is just guess work by having their logo on the jersey or the Perth pathways sides named reds ?

Somewhere in the above is the truth about what happened

Doesnt surprise me, Vlandys has proven to be a sht negotiator and seemingly a not very nice person, respect isnt his forte.

Shame, walking away from a $30mill start up investment and putting at risk $400mill+ of Govt funding for the game in an AFL state for any of the reasons Wb has speculated would be a pretty pss weak thing to do.

Stop being dramatic

The wa govt funding will have gone up if anything

It will either be fully owned by the arlc or privately owned with potentially an arlc board seat / minority share

You don’t know how difficult Cummins mayve been to deal with

I’ve heard very difficult, to the point of “no this is how it is going to be”, with not even looking over documents that were presented to him and his bid team.

Bears were going to get shafted hard

Way too trusting of Cummins

Didn’t learn from what manly did

Couldn’t believe the bears agreed to no board seats, equity and just relying upon contracts with the bid team to protect their position

Crazy
