why wouldn’t they if they are providing pathways and brand/ip? you reckon those thing have no values?

you’re alone there then because the games admins see the value. not sure what you’re actually arguing with to be honest

plus bear said it’s only input but seems you have infatuation with poster everytime they drops something you become a cry baby

Hey builderbear, why did you set up a new account just to be your own cheerleader?

maximum just pointing out the obvious here, you have dumb weird opinions and become cry baby when certain posters post things. if it’s not bear, it’s wb, or red or Matt or muga.

If you want to be infatuated with me you’re welcome to come to Yamba and hang. id love a cyber admirer . At the moment only cyber that likes me is lightning link

My sources read the Telegraph this morning , and say that the WA bid still had “plenty of work ahead to get the deal done “, and that “ talks are progressing slowly “ …

could just be a red herring for Cook to have another look in his wallet

Like I told you straight after the meeting two weeks ago ‘there’s a number of hurdles to overcome yet’.

point of order. the WA bid was rejected. We no longer have a bid. We have nrl working with wa govt to set a club up.

In the Herald this morning (PNG article)…

ARL Commission chairman Peter Vlandys met with WA Premier Roger Cook in Sydney a fortnight ago and requested the WA Government contribute $120m over 10 years to establish a team on the West Coast ….

So apparently the finances are not yet sorted ?

The article was a Rehash of old news, that request was rejected before the meeting. Wa govt has offered extra grassroots funding which includes increasing the original high schools funding program and funding for increased development officers numbers, they’ve also offered more funding to cover the interim accomodation costs of the club and committed in kind funding by offering stadium for no rent for a period of time. Those are the increases they have agreed.

That’s the first time I have seen an article that said PVL asked for $120m more money DURING the meeting …

I would bet that PVL wanting more money is the main reason why this deal is not finalised by now

Edit - the article I quoted from is not a “rehash” of old news ( although admittedly plenty of other stories are ) … it is primarily focused on the PNG “confirmation “ and various PNG minister comments including their visit to Aust next week to announce the team

Like I said in true media they have taken old news that has already been rejected and tried to make it sound current. They asked for that 2 months ago was rejected by wa govt who counter offered with extra funds for what I’ve just told you. If that’s enough we dont know yet, we don’t know what these hurdles are that are still there.

Why would they have any say at all in that? They are not providing any funding to the club, so why do they get any say at all?
Imagine if the source of funding was the only thing determining the identity of a football club.

I can't wait for the Penrith Panthers to face the Government of Western Australia.

You know … you have a number of annoying habits … and one of them is just immeadiately rejecting any news that doesn’t agree with your preferences of how you want things to work out …and then just refusing to consider that there is any possibility it could have happened.., have you actually read the story yet? I haven’t seen it posted here and it’s only in the SMH today … so you would have had to have read it in the last 12 hours or so…besides … even if the rest of the story is “rehashed “ ( it isn’t by the way), that is no reason to say it is false..

Now this bit of news about PVL may or may not be true … but I’m going to bet my left nut that you weren’t at the meeting , nor have you seen a full transcript of what was or wasn’t discussed…so you can’t say that it definitely didn’t happen

All either of us really know for sure is that no agreement had been reached despite meeting in person two weeks ago

Do the NRL own the clubs brands and IP?
I'd imagine every club with an NRL license needs to have their brand fall within a set of guidelines laid out by the NRL and have a licensing agreement in place for stuff like likeness and merchandise.
Outside of that it looks like any RL club has free reign.

i dont get it. youre saying this here. bear is saying money or atleast inprinciple agreements are done but its how money is intended to be distributed + the legal paper work thats taking time and to be honest thats somewhat believable contracts do take awhile to be drafted i guess.

it's all kinda of conflicting yet kind of not i guess.

then this news does seem rehashed i swear someone posted this stuff few weeks ago but the figures were a bit off or they had who funds what back to front but it was close to what youre saying.

maybe reds heard the wrong morse code? or maybe bears (or as maximum says my secret identity) raven got lost in the rain and the foot scroll note carrying the secret information was mucked up. maybe news report is rehashing old news in a way is seems like new news or maybe it is new news.

hard to tell.

EXPANSIONISTA EXPERTS ASSEMBLE!!! let us know the real news as its confusing times.
