If cook is delaying the announcement of the team till after the election due to fears of losing votes then he’s a twat

He’s announced 200 million for a minor sport like motor cars

If I was Pvl I would brush them all together and give teams to places that want and are proud of the sport
thats some rant for something highly unlikely lol. Its much more likely my source is correct and the deal isnt yet done.

Not the announcement for the RL centre but it will be part of this complex announced today:

  • Malaga Sports Precinct – $20 million towards development of new precinct including indoor and outdoor infrastructure for AFL, rugby union/league, softball, volleyball and basketball, including high performance facilities

Wa state election is 8th of march

There may be some leaks before this

The liberals may not provide the same level of funding for the team that labor have committed too

Which poses the question of what happens in the unlikely event liberals get in

It looks like the labor party package for the team was everything Pvl asked for

Id fully expect the Libs to pull it. Labor are only supporting it as we got incredibly lucky that WA had a premier from Newcastle who was a League fan and his successor also has an interest. Once in a lifetime opportunity for WA. Vlads delays, unreasonable requests and turning down the October bid had better not screw this up. Having said that the odds of the Libs getting in are very very slim.

We havent had any massive announcements yet, biggest being around $200mill, so Id expect he's got some big stuff up his sleeve for Feb when we are nearer the election time.

Libs are supportive of grassroots funding for league

Not the stadium upgrades or funding for coe

Vote labor! lol.

not really ok cumins western bears bid gets in and gets stadium upgrades but what about long term sustainability which was the issue? nothing. so it wouldnt change a thing.
Potentially losing 350 million of govt money to the bid would be a disaster

Free rent for one year plus major upgrades to stadium and corporate facilities === major dollars

Stadium funding is more important than grassroots funding increase. Sustainable nrl team is priority. Don’t need wa juniors in large numbers not a crucial factor in the bid

id say having a sustainable footy club trumps stadium funding. one that can pay its bills for years to come.

hbf in its current form is still better than shark park, win stadium, bruce stadium, leichhardt oval, old panthers stadium. no issues clubs playing in those stadiums for as long as they did. yeah hbf probably does need a lick of paint and better seating but those other mentioned need entire overhauls yeah? also id also argue juniors are just as important. cant keep adding teams and taking away from the current player pool without replenishing said player pool with more players. its an investment that pays dividends 20+ years from if done correctly and in 20 years guess what? stadium will need another upgrade probably.

All those clubs you mentioned have rich leagues clubs and are in established league areas

Hbf park isn’t bad true but it’s corporate facilities are poor that’s where the big money comes from

Even with 12 million pa in junior funding from wa govt how many actual nrl players will they produce a year down the track ?

Buckleys imo

Nz, png and the pacific islands is where we should be looking at

PNG on its own could be massive for juniors

Wa govt isn’t putting any money into the team. Re sustainability an upgraded ground helps with game day revenues

Nothing in the Western Bears bid to say they wouldn't have been sustainable. Had start up money, had fall back money. Had 6 rich guys with deep pockets. Between a cheap stadium deal, having a CofE built for them, a strong fan east and west coast fanbase and a $20mill annual NRL grant there is nothing to suggest the Western Bears bid wouldn't have been successful. Instead the whole thing is now at the whim of an election and Labor getting back in. Thankfully the signs are good that will happen.
