what this about? is there secret info you both are holding out on us common folk paupers?
BBX (Business Barter Exchange) was the last major sponsor for the Bears in 1999, only coming on board part-way through the season.
Unfortunately the entire sponsorship was a credit figure, which could only be used for spending but didn't count as anything towards the Sponsorship/Profitability ranking, which was obviously something all clubs were ranked on in the rationalisation down to 14.

Mind you, they still ranked higher in that category than Souths, Wests and Balmain, but a proper cash sponsorship might've been enough in that category to rank above Parramatta or Penrith.

George Piggins complained the criteria about sponsorship was rigged as sl clubs had their News Ltd money counted

Bbx you could never use the credits it was just one big scam

There’s another sponsor who got knocked back recently alrernaleaf (medicinal cannabis) for the dolphins

Souths Juniors couldn't be counted or something?
Maybe.

But news Ltd money was counted hence bias vs arl clubs

Chargers had one million cash in bank when they were booted which I think they lent to norths or another arl club which still wasn’t counted

that doesnt sound right at all. chargers left nrl one season before norths 98 v 99 i doubt they lent norths any money. norths were ok in 98 it was 99 after chargers ceased to operate and norths had committed to gosford stadium that wheels fells off

Perhaps getting it mixed up with Seagulls?

Isn't it crazy that Norths were OK in "98.

even then seagulls never put money into norths. i mean consider norths bought seagulls. up until 99 norths were ok financially i thinks. their leagues clubs always done well. north sydney is a well off area. yeah crazy they put their eggs in one basket as per nrl request but them the breaks i guess.

on a another note cave bears facebook site has some hollow heads there. i seens a post about this article today. is perthwrongs leading the charge there too?

Was also probably some trepidation from sponsors and the leagues club to inject more money into a football club who are about to move an hour away, even though the former wouldn't exist without the latter.

Anyone else have a shtty feeling its going to be "The Bears"?

"We wrote to the NRL and said that we had done all this work, had an agreement with the North Sydney Bears, agreed on logos, club names and had registered and trademarked them."We said that was all available to them if they want to recompense us for the money that we have spent."

Cummins wanting the 1000 bucks he spent on the bid is the reason why he should have nothing to do with the team

He was given the ip to western bears by a bears fan for free too
did he, or did they have to buy it? Be honest you don't know lol No one drops thousands on a load of trademarks for giggles. If you think he isnt asking $'s for them you are very naive.

The article quoted him as saying he was happy to hand it over to the bid

Should’ve asked for a Rolex
the article actually said, And I quote: "That’s where Chippendale comes in. Not only was he the first to register the Western Bears trademark (which he later relinquished for the bid team)."

No specifics on if he charged them or not. Again be naive if you want.

You’re the one making up bs scenarios as fact

I hope Cummings doesn’t relinquish the ip for western bears so the team can be called Perth bears like it should’ve been from the start

Western was up there with firebirds
