WA BEARS

A clubs identity is not a trivial thing lol
Branding matters.
You've literally just said so yourself with the comment about being called vipers or cobras!

The NEW WA club needs a brand that reflects its WA home, gives nod to the heritage of the NS history and is something the club can be proud of for the next 25 years (ie doesnt date quickly, id digital era appropriate and screams Perth or WA).
So what would that be that's so great?

Would a slightly different bear face with a dash of yellow be so much better?

Honestly it's such trivial bs why can't you move on?

Because like I said it matters. And it matters because it sends a message. And that message is incredibly important.
WA will not get behind a team in the same way if they feel it is a Sydney team. And that is why it matters.
On the flip side I also get it matters to NS fans that if they are going to support this team it needs to represent them and their NS heritage. And that matters.
It also needs to scream NEW club, not NS moved to Perth.
People get paid millions for company branding work, there's a reason!

And so @Perth Red you say the logo has to 'scream' WA/Perth? That would be a Swan but that's taken. I wonder how the Sydney Swans fanbase manage, they must be so confused to have an animal that is not associated with Sydney.

The Chicago Bulls must not be very successful either with their brand, given bulls are not native to Chicago.

Geez we really need something that SCREAMS WA to be successful.

because he cant stand being wrong yet thats him, constantly wrong. he is perthwrongs, ding dong

he has no counter argument even before redblackbears gave a summation of what happened with cumins consortium and instead of replying to him he chose to keep replying to wb1234 instead on the subject. he doesnt value information if he isnt the one providing it and yet his info is wrong lol

dude, theres literally a bloke who knows whats going on tell ya what happened but ya choose to ignore him because it'll prove everything ya hold dear with mr casho converto cumins consortium bid wrong and why it failed. its hilarious. then he happily accepts 3500 bears members on the cave facey group he runs but speaks ill of bear on this forum. gutless. he cant even say what he really thinks or feels.

You keep whinging about calling them the Bears as though it is so problematic, is there a better name / logo you have in mind?
Don't mind the bears logo, probably in my top 300 logos.

My problem is and always has been the ridiculous concept of resurrecting a failed club and making a tenuous link with a city 4000km away all because some goons at the daily telegraph thought it was a fabulous idea at one of their liquid lunches.

"Perth Bears" has a message to WA that is clear - this is a Perth team for Perth. This team inherits a heritage with a foundational loved brand and will now build a new legacy on top of that. Which is cooler than being called some generic thing that has no resonance with anyone. And even if it's worse, so what, can we not get behind and support it and give it a chance of success?

Is it useful to bicker and argue like some Karen.

this is exactly what bears fans here are advocating and obviously more importantly than that the people are norths currently including former bears legend and current director billy moore.

BUT the swamp patches in here dont wanna absorb any of that because crayons taste better than rational thinking to them. they argue and have tantys yet none of this is relevant to them. its hilarious.

alwaysloser is a bum, biggest tosser of them all.

Should've paid the guys doing Cumins' bid a few more $mil then
absolutely, what a bucket of piss that crew of jollywanks were. its like the good people behind phins left and they had to hire entire new team or something and none of them had a clue about anything relevant to the bid or nrl's specification list lol

It's just really negative and whinging behaviour. The bear is great iconography for a sporting team and the colours are great. There's some depth and history to it. It could be a lot worse (See GC Suns, GWS Giants).

It looks like it's what's happening, so either you can find a way to get behind and support it, or stay stuck in a negative paralysis over a logo.

So far the only person that cracked a shits, is a Bears fan (Jeffries) about some yellow being included in the graphic design.

And yet you've been able to spin that as West Aussies being "negative".

I'm still waiting for this amazing suggestion from those that keep ragging on and on and on about having the bear as disastrous for the WA team.
I don't think overall many in Peth are concerned about whether the new club are the bears or a separate brand, but there are always whingers either way.

Mainly the people I speak to locally are concerned on who will run the club.

Some are interested in changing the bears club colors (adding yellow) and/or change the logo slightly, others are not.

The Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions are closest comparison to an Expansion Club taking on a Heritage Brand but being run out of the new market.

South Melbourne -> Sydney - Kept the colours - slight change to the logo, major change to the jumper going from the iconic red v to the Opera House with red upper. I'm sure there was major complaints on the red v going at the time.

Fitzroy -> Brisbane - Instant change in club colours with the red being replaced with Maroon. I'm sure there was major complaints on the colour change at the time. Overall the first jumper and logo stayed very similar. Logo has since been modernised.

I really don't care that much on club colours, jumper originality or logo ... as said before I'm happy to show respect to NS. Will hold judgement on the Bears fanchise based on ownership structure once it's confirmed.

Exactly it's not perth people whinging it's people in here who like to think they are the spokesman for the people of Perth.
lol there is no such thing as 'perth people'. Theres never homogenous thought. Everyone will have an opinion. Some dont care, just want a club, some care and want to see it represent WA/Perth, some dont want a Sydney brand at all regardless of how it is changed.

I tend to sit in the middle group. Though like Dragonwest ownership, control and safeguards are far more important to me than a badge.

Then why do you keep complaining about the badge ad nauseum?

Stupid Cummins didn’t even want to use the name Perth or W.A. to identify it

Im not lol, Im giving an opinion on what I feel the new club brand should represent.

This all came about as the usual suspects used some comments by the NS bloke to try and cast shade on the Consortium. He spat the dummy because he didnt like the brand direction the Western Bears were going in. If anyone has a problem its him and many NS bears fans like him lol

Your opinion is a constant complaint about the logo and branding we've all heard again and again. And the way you speak about it is as though its not an opinion but 'the truth' and only way it is.
