100%, all the chat in 2004 was that the Storm would be relocated to the Gold Coast and the CC Bears would be team 16
Never heard of that before ?, the Storm dumped the Central Coast as their feeder area (NSW Cup side) because they thought that the Bears were definately coming in and they didn’t want to help a rival club develop players.
Wonder what will happen with the Storm and the Bears feeder arrangement if the Perth Bears are announced at the double header.

It will no doubt end either this year or end of next depending on ko date. Storm may have its own nsw cup side then or partner with jets or Wenty. They now have hm, sg and fleg sides so nsw cup is next logical pathway addition.

Obviously storm will have to find another naw cup side to partner with

Or they could actually try and develop juniors in Victoria

Oh yeh Buckleys chance of them doing the latter

Whilst all that is great for the junior sides, you do realise that a decent portion of the kids in those teams come from QLD, NSW or NZ via their regional junior teams right? Granted that there is a sprinkle of Victorian kids in there too and that’s growing which is great.

Your argument will look better in another half decade or so. Have a great weekend.

Trust me, Newtown will not part with Cronulla, Cronulla save the Jets plenty of $$$ by providing plenty of players.
The Jets wouldn’t survive on the players the Storm provide the Bears, after also sharing their NRL players with Sunshine Coast Falcons and Brisbane Easts.

I know one thing, the WA Bears need to chase Jacob Preston and get the young lad back in Bears colours watching him playing for the Bulldogs against the Sharks 2nite.
Preston is still very close to the Bears and attends many functions.

Yeah Jonah Pezet, looks like the Storm have moved their excess players around in 2025, as Jonah was with the Brissy Tigers the last few years, Jonahs dad Troy was Newcastles recruitment officer years ago, Jonah grew up on the Central Coast, played his junior league with strong Newcastle club the Valentine Eleebana Devils and came through the Knights junior representative pathways, his dad Troy played for Wyong and played the odd 1st grade game with South Sydney.
I’ve heard that he did his hamstring.

Pretty dire when Newcastle cant even get one of their juniors even when they offer overs

Good luck to the kid if it’s just a hammy

There maybe bad blood as I’m pretty sure that his dad got sacked from the Knights.
Yeah hope so, they’ll know more 2morro, though it is the same leg as his acl injury as you did say.

There is a bit of journo content here (http://12ft.io/https://www.smh.com.au/sport/kimmorley-says-keep-storm-20040812-gdjj68.html) that touches on Dennis Fitzgerald angling for their relocation to the GC, and also a LU thread from way back when discussing kicking the storm and replacing them with the GC and CC based on an ep of the footy show (https://forums.leagueunlimited.com/threads/should-the-storm-relocate.83178/)

On top of that they talked about warriors being relocated to Australia and the titans relocated to Brisbane

Nrl is insular like super league just that their heartland of nsw and qld is massive
