Whose team 18 ?

It was hilarious you thinking the nrl should still consider the Perth bid without any stadium upgrades

That stadium in chch just gets better every day
No skin off my nose, I hope nz gets another club.
this pup we’ve been putting up with for wa was a big compromise, if it doesn’t happen so be it.

Go on then state what you actually believe

Every single post is anti rugby league

You aren’t a bears fan either stop posting that bs
I've restated my positions on those subjects to you at least a dozen times at this point and you continue to misrepresent them anyway.

So what's the point? I'd just be wasting my time.

I’ve been saying forever nz should get a team ahead of wa

It’s what’s best for rugby league

After the cook govt refused to back an nrl team publically pre election and has now caved to the afl wa doesn’t deserve an nrl team

As ususal you will try and blame Pvl for this when it’s the wa govt who have cocked this up

Vlandys has had 2.5 years to get this deal done with the wa govt. Who else you going to blame for it being allowed to be dragged out to an election issue and end up compromising the outcome? Cook will do what’s best for him And his party, that’s his job. Vlandys should have done what’s best for rugby league, a long time ago.

westen bears could be up and running by now and the wa govt locked in to all they was offering Last October. Thats on Vlandys And no-one else.

Cook had a huge majority he was always going to win

He should’ve just been open pre election rather then made a huge hole for himself now

If he had mentioned it pre election he wouldn’t need to backtrack now

You should be saying yourself Perth don’t deserve a team now after the govt pulled the stadium promises

Nrl isn’t a doormat. Being part of the comp is a privilege. They spent 3 billion on an afl stadium. 200 million on hbf park which is shared with two other codes is a rounding error in comparison

Come on PR, we both know they'll blame the AFL.

If the stadium is indeed a stumbling block for Perth, it certainly isn't for Christchurch.

The NRL would have to overlook a few other aspects that might have been more compelling with Perth (notably up front cash & the unique timezone) but at the end of the day all that matters is a) what aspects the NRL value most and b) who has the best working relationship with the NRL.

It wouldn't be surprising if the NRL says "Hey, we have a better option than Perth now - we're working well with Christchurch, they give us a stadium that will be the envy of the league AND it opens a 2nd home-based pathway to the great talent pool of NZ - plus a new derby"

Don't get what?

That the Bears are run and largely supported by disingenuous morons pining for glory days that were never that glorious to begin with?

Mate I lived it, the Bears have f**ked almost everything they've touched since 1995, and most of it was avoidable if they'd just set emotions and egos aside for a minute.
Calm down petal.
You’re coming across like someone who very much didn’t “live it”, or at least wasn’t paying attention.

Norths need to wise up and saddle up to a NZ bid. This one's caput
North's need to wise up and f**k off.

Seriously, they need to stop worrying about the NRL, go away, and work on building themselves up.

Their goal should be to make themselves so appealing they don't need to hijack somebody else's team. Maybe start by bidding for an independent NRLW side, or keep on keeping on in the NSW Cup, IDK it doesn't really matter, but don't even look at bidding for the NRL again until you're getting competitive crowds at NSO, pushing at least 10k football club members, and capable of backing an NRL side independently.

“Given our location on the Indian Ocean Rim and in the same time zone as 60 per cent of the world’s population, the strategic value of a Western Australian side should be self evident to the NRL.

“Unfortunately, like some people from the east, the NRL only appears to see WA as a potential cash cow.“

Nah, I'm just not a blind follower.

I have a memory and I'm capable investigating events and coming to my own conclusions. The Bears and the handful of fans they've got left have built a nice mythology for themselves, but the reality that's all it is.

A bit of bad luck and a string of bad decisions since about 95 has put them where they are today.

I mean it's hard to deny it.

PVL has tried to take them for all they're worth.

TBH, the standard of the NRL is so shit that I barely watch it anymore.

Most people are too afraid of sticking their head above the parapet to admit it, but the six again and other associated rules have completely rooted the game. The NRL has gone from debatably the tightest competition in the world, to an ungovernable mess where the rules make refereeing oversight literally impossible.
The NRL is basically just an all flash, no substance, product for undiscerning consumers these days, and if we're being really honest the NRL is intentionally tailoring itself for specific demographics in NSW and Qld that I'm not a member of.

Wigan vs Leigh and Hull FC vs Leigh in round 1 and 4 of the Super League are comfortably the highest quality games of RL I've seen in years, which is quite an indictment on the state of the NRL IMO.

There's also just a lot more interesting shit happening around the world of sport in general at the moment. Like who gives a shit about the PVL's self-promoting antics when the NBA is looking at launching a European league, the NFL is expanding their international footprint year on year, the AFL's quirky expansion shenanigans, etc, etc.

If you read my last post closely it's clear that I haven't given up on the Perth side yet either, but honestly, for both Perth and the sport's sake, I hope it falls through for the time being. Better to leave it and get it right in the future than knowingly push ahead with a bad situation just to get it done as quickly as possible. Perth doesn't need the NRL as much as the NRL needs Perth anyway, so be patient, the NRL will be back sooner or later, and hopefully with a better offer next time.

Yet there are record ratings now ? So I’m not buying your arguments about the general perceptions of the game or that they are narrowing their supporter base … personally I think there are issues with the refereeing standards as a whole … lot of games only 1 team seems to get penalised for ruck infringements ( normally the weaker side) and also when they get the penalties/ six agains ( first or last tackle ) is critical in who ends up winning the games

Comparing the NRL to the NBA, NFL … that’s heady company there ..although I think an NBA game may as well start at the two minute to go mark and playing 82 generally meaningless games sure ain’t my bag …, but to each their own … and like the rest of the world I love the NFL …

Word is now that Perth NRL won’t be announced anytime soon … like a year or two … maybe they might start again in the meantime

You just keep digging yourself into this “doesn’t get it” hole deeper and deeper.
You can’t hold an NRLW license without being an NRL club. They do keep on keeping on in the NSW Cup, and are focussed on building themselves up. More than they are with the NRL, mostly because they don’t “shove their nose into other bids” or whatever people think it is. It was always direct communication with the NRL/ARLC who want the club reinstated in an expansion market.
