So women’s Asian cup thing is 2026

And I presume union wc are using hbf park in 2027

They could say the upgrade is for all sports not league with Perth nrl team already in

But if they did it would games have to be shifted to Optus with a hugely reduced capacity

Remembering it’s also used in summer by soccer

Edit it looks like union is using Optus for the seven games so why can’t it be knocked down then

For the umpteenth Its not a question of if WA can afford it. We are coined. Its a political decision based on being backed into a corner in the election about how much they would give the 'East Coast'. Unless Trump destroys the global economy the money will still be there in the state coffers in a couple of years to make it happen as long as theres an NRL club to use it.

I know a lawyer over in Perth. They’ve been working there all week. It’s got me a free trip and ticket to the double header. If anyone knows any good restaurants, hit me up.
GO THE FLO.
I think there's an alright Maccas in the Crown downstairs somewhere. :p

I'm not a foodie in any way, nor do I go out anywhere anymore to know what's around or good, but the Epicurean in Crown I have been to a couple of times years ago and that was decent.
Never done it, but I believe Frasers Restaurant in Kings Park is good. Great view of the city, especially at night, if you're into that kinda thing.

That global recession hitting I doubt it.The share market in the U.S has had its biggest jump for many years. and the Oz market took a big leap today. Hundreds of billions of dollars from International companies have now committed to building mfg plants in the U.S. One of the main reasons for the tariffs. Even Obama wanted to raise tariffs admitting the country was screwed in trade .
This is not the 2008 GFC nor the COVID disaster .
Any case any TV deal will be based on Tv ratings, slots ,the product itself ,growth in crowds. , interest in social media and national spread.
Anything Trump does is wrong according to PR , he's got Trump derangement syndrome worse than Robert Dinero

Anyone got the full article ?

If the headline is true, looks like it’s game over and the Bears have likely already moved on to Christchurch…

Disrespectful’ NRL snubs Western Australia. Again
By Kishor Napier-Raman and Liam Mannix
April 11, 2025 — 5.00am

After the bright lights of Las Vegas, the NRL is headed to another glamorous desert-fringed rugby league wasteland this weekend, playing a double-header in Perth on Saturday.
CBD hears Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has been invited to watch his beloved South Sydney Rabbitohs take on the North Queensland Cowboys in the cavernous bowl of Optus Stadium, alongside Western Australian Premier Roger Cook. The PM’s campaign schedule is kept closely under wraps – even journalists travelling in the media circus have no idea where they’re headed any given day.

But we wouldn’t be surprised to see Albo in Perth this weekend. A big late swing in Western Australia three years ago effectively delivered Labor majority government, and Albanese has been sandbagging those seats in Perth ever since, making regular trips throughout this term and heading there on day two of the campaign.
If he takes time to watch the footy, it’d be quite a vote of confidence in Labor’s position as the race reaches its midpoint.
The NRL, on the other hand, can afford to snub the sandgropers. Saturday’s double header comes with relations between the league and the WA government particularly frosty, after recent revelations that it had put plans for an expansion team in Perth on ice.
A furious Cook, who has been lobbying Australian Rugby League Commission chair Peter “Showbags” V’landys to help get a team established, urged the NRL to treat WA with more respect. To misquote Don Draper, “that’s what the [GST] money is for!”
In return, it looks like the NRL’s top brass is set to disrespect the good people of Western Australia even further by skipping out on the weekend’s action. V’landys will don his Racing NSW hat and head to Royal Randwick for Championships Day on Saturday (sponsored by Star, but for how much longer?). That’s despite speculation that he’ll be dropping his racing role for an executive chair job in rugby league.
We hear the NRL’s chief executive Andrew Abdo also won’t be heading to Perth, and neither will be most of its senior people. We guess it’s a club game after all, and they’ll all be in Perth for State of Origin Game II in a couple of months.
Unlike Albo, some people can afford to avoid WA.

It's the bleeding Herald once again. They have shown themselves to be the biggest naysayers on anything NRL and particularly on expansion and Las Vegas.sare they not the same state as the "West Australian" rag ?

they have put a negative spin on it … but how should they report it ? It’s a pretty obvious move from PVL and Abdo to send a signal … you can’t polish a turd

Had SEN on the car radio after giving my daughter a lift this morning. Andrew? Webster was strongly in favour of Cook and was very anti the PVL / NRL approach to this negotiation

We saw his pod yesterday …. He thinks they should expand to Ipswich instead because AFL is gunna take over Western Brisbane

Still… looks like he might be right about PVL’s negotiating style

Webster is a dingbat - "Western Brisbane" I mean there's a south west Brisbane which is heading towards Ipswich and a north west Brisbane which isn't all that big. Directly west of Brisbane is Mt Cootha and there is just national park beyond that.
