Also, from what I've seen of Reddy this season, he's hardly beat the first man on his kick returns.

My thoughts were not to drop Mckinnon for Reddy, like I said, I'd have kept Joel in the team last season when I thought he was harshly dropped after filling in for Wade.

Gee I'd like to see Hayne at fullback though, he's a top winger but I still get the feeling he is being wasted there.

He's better off getting a full season in PL under his belt before more pressure is thrown on him. He has his moments under the high ball as well as evidenced by the PL game.

I think Hayne is more prone to risky plays and mistakes than Wade. Although, he does look more likely on kick returns.

Yeah ...I meant for him to be at fullback in premier league.

My comment was based on that too. Remember he is playing a grade higher (possibly two) than what he could be. ;-)

Haha!

the mods have been bugging me to calm down a bit with my thoughts so I guess I'm trying to keep it a little more settled.

McKinnon is solid, I think some people think I want to drop him because of how he has played this year. That is not the case, I'm just saying that if I was in charge I wouldnt have had him in the side to start with.

I'm not worried about the stats Eelementary, I know he busts a lot of tackles, my post actually emphasised this point, this is because he has a good fend and a natural 'bumping' running style, but if you really think he has more spark in attack overall (eg, line breaks, line break assists, try assists, etc) than Brett Hodgson, then well, we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

I'd like to see him bust more tackles in our attacking zone of the field, because I get the impression most of it is done at the other end of the field from kick returns.

I can see what you mean about Hodgson. But I'd say Hodgson has more 'flair' than McKinnon - because I reckon they can both, at any given time, run 90 metres to score a try.

sorry to start an arguement and then not reply.

normally I'm wades biggest fan and defended him last year when everyone wanted reddy to keep his spot.

however wade makes crucial mistakes in almost every game(this year) that lead to tries last week was it for me i get nervous everytime he has the ball he's either gonna make a break, drop the ball, get taken into touch or play it to no one Joel Reddy is the man for the job

our kick returns are a joke we are getting a bad platform every set of six and people wonder why our forwards make no metres mckinnon takes the kick he drops it/runs out/crabs across field and takes the tackle
next play perterson dummy half run sideways no meteres gained then our forwards have to make a hit up with the defence keen and eager to smash them

where on the other side grothe and tahu make yards like you wouldn't belive and get good roll on

imo 1 reddy 2 burt 5 grothe should be our back 3

* Wade sliding into touch DIDN'T result in a try.

* Grothe's inability to react quickly led to Hick's try (he could have gotten there before Hicks).

Why should the fact it didn't result in a try matter?

it still forced Parra to make a lot more tackles which meant they had less in attack and also made the players more tired coming into halftime when the 2 tries were scored

The poster said he made errors that resulted in tries.

When he slid into touch, it didn't result in even 1 point.

the thing is Eele, had we not made some one of those many errors before half time it would of changed the complexion of the game entirely, going into half time at 16-0 or even 16-6 would of ultimately won us the game.

Hindsight is wonderful, no? lol

What cost us the game? Simple - when Moimoi was illegally hit high and we went for the two. We were RIGHT THERE on their line, and we let them off the hook.

Whether it was Cayless or Brian Smith or whoever - whoever called for us to make the 2 cost us the match.

If our leaders and coaches could pump our forwards up like the way Manly's forwards were pumped up early in the 2nd half, we would've been alot closer to winning.

Taking the kick from 14-16 could also be argued as givinmg them more time with the ball.... ;-)

that was the right decsion and I'll always maintain that, however we didn't plan to make mistakes, unfortunately we made several there after.

I'm not sure it was the RIGHT decision. I think it was a SAFE decision. The BETTER decision would have been to play out the set of six and look for the try or a repeat set. ;-)

Wade McKinnon (apart from tahu ) has been the only player this year to even look like making a line break..and im sure he leads the line break dept for the eels at present .... his one on one defence at the back is just absolutely awesome .. rarely does he miss one ..... (unlike speedhump hodgson)
he has one bad game and people want him dropped .... i find this absolutely crazy ! (thats my opinion)....... people keep going on about that 'play the ball' against the cowboys .... does wade have to get up and look behind him to make sure someone is there everytime he plays the ball? .... gee ..if thats the case then our play the ball will be the slowest in the league.

be realistic....in that situation he should have looked behind him, common sense was needed, maybe these players have it drilled into their heads too much about quick play the balls and he didnt think?
