It absolutely astounds me that anyone would own up to thinking a club criminally cheating at a sport at the expense of 15 other teams, the game's fans, and five years of honest football is more acceptable than one of many arguable instances of short-sightedness in NRL policy.
And Melbourne didn't cheat because they thought their NRL expansion grant was insufficient.
They did it because they were greedy, and because they had people of very dubious character, formulating and executing policy.
To me, your answer is absolutely ludicrous.
Looking at your own team, I have a long enough memory to remember the Raider's rorts of the late 80s and early 90s, where Bradley Clyde was being paid executive wages to be "greenskeeper" at Parliament House - all rubber-stamped by the then sporting minister if I remember correctly.
Perhaps that is why what the Storm have done is so palatable to you.
You asked a question. You didn't like my answer --- and that's fair enough.
But don't try to verbal me.
I had posted the following in the "Storm fat cats dished up the cream" thread in the "Melbourne Storm" sub-forum, but as there are self-confessed Storm fans who avoid that thread for fear of trolling, I offer it here for those very people, with an invitation for rebuttal. I don't consider it trolling - rather a presentation of opinion, backed by what in my opinion is evidence enough to back it.
It is in regards to player refusal in talking to the auditors who have been appointed to getting to the bottom of this mess. This thread title "Wake up to yourselves", also seems somewhat apt for its placement:
I don't think the players are doing themselves any favours by refusing to talk to the auditors.
If they were indeed innocent of knowledge of any impropriety, then why refuse a chance to clear your name and any speculation surrounding them?
For this very reason, I am led to believe that the players involved were neck-deep in knowledge of these rorts.
Sigining three contracts innocently I can live with.
But to deliberately obstruct an effort to look at how and why this happened - which may very well have the benefit of ensuring that it never happens again - for me illustrates that they are in fear of the truth.
It is a very plausible scenario that when given their hidden contracts, the players were briefed exactly on how they were being paid, and what story to present in the event of an individual audit.
It appears, no-one expected a whistle-blower.
If I were an innocent player, the first thing I would be doing would be to start legal proceedings against my agent (and perhaps my club), for unwittingly involving me in this fraudulent activity.
The fact that this hasn't occurred, coupled with the fact that no player will co-operate with the audit interviews, only confirms in my mind that the high-profile players involved are as likely guilty as the club.
I can't get my head around people who want an apology from the Storm players! FMD. Atleast us storm fans know who's in the wrong here, and its definitely not the players. Feel free to prove me wrong though.
f*ck the storm, even before the salary cap scandal i alway thought they were a grubby dirty team, now their cheats aswell f*ck them.
I dont want a direct apology from any storm players yet...and i never want to hear one, when it is prooved who knew about it i dont want to see or hear of them ever again....
What i would like from the players and coaches is an acknowledgement. But that is way too classy for them. Acknowledgement to other NRL Players...yes we have been getting paid a lot more more money than you. Yes due to our management cheating we have had a superior team against the laws of the game and therefore you have been robbed of some of your successes and possible representation of your state and nation.
We acknowledge that other fans have also been robbed of their premiership dreams and teams successes
'for these circumstances, to the fans and players of our great game we apologize'
gee that would be nice, and not a lot to ask.
co operating with auditors would also be nice!
victims arent usually ones earning lots of money, winning everything.
TBH there really hasnt been a punishment, the only thing that has happened is that wrongs have been righted.
They should not be playing with a team over the cap this year.
faaark the Storm
...like the Essendon Bombers :lol:Yes, we'll see them again.
For other clubs.

Key word here.
Storm have proved anything but "viable", by not only biting and defecating upon the hand that fed them, but by also showing a disrespect that goes far beyond the point of arrogance and common decency, to not only all other clubs and supporters, but also to the game of Rugby League itself.
They are therefore, anything but "viable".
The right thing to do, would be to boot them out, and start a new franchise there, under new management.
And if it takes half a decade. . . so be it.
After all, we only have Melbourne Storm to blame.
If you dont think the players were aware that they were getting loaded with heaps of free sh*t then your are a deadsh*t of the highest order.
Highest order.
The players, officials, board members and everyone affiliated with that club are scum and deserve every bit of abuse they are copping.
Your a nobody :lol:, and the ridiculous rubbish your stateing you want.. you aint gunna get..
Storm are playing the rest of the season, and will play for points next season, and the players wont apoligise nothin to anyone,
and you will see them again..
Swallow it dimwitt.
