Ashley-Cooper also... I don't believe Gerrard would be moved to fullback as, honestly, he was pretty awful when he played there for a season with the Brumbies. Ashley-Cooper is the Brumbies fullback now, and quite a good one.

Locky, you know what I found most amusing about yesterday's posts? You started off by saying "the more league players the better" and then proceeded to say why you thought Rogers and Tuqiri should be nowhere near the team.

There is a difference between "good league players" and Rogers! Rogers is a winger in league, he is nothing more than a fullback in union. Ditto Tuquiri, he is a winger thats it.

In that case, I fail to see how you can justify calling for more league players. You say it is because they'll keep the ball in hand more... well Rogers has put dumb chips through in every test so far!

I would argue that we should have more genuine rugby players, and less league players, in the Wallabies.

If Gerrard got back to his 04 form he would be the best winger in the world. He was sensational, speed and power plus good kicker what more do you need. Sadly he lost the speed with his injury and has been as physical.

No we need a backline that will run the ball Skeepe. We don't have ANY good kickers so why on earth are we kicking the ball all the time. That goes for everyone in the backline. Our kicking is attrocious. If we stop kicking we might score some more points FFS!

Yeah, let's just ignore the field position game and rely on our forwards to win every breakdown.

Jackass.

Did you forget what happened against Ireland last week? Those conditions mean you need a good tactical kicker because if you drop the ball in your own 22 you will pay the price.

Small problem...we don't have any good tactical kickers! There is no Darren Lockyer playing Union FFS. There is no one who can kick the ball accurately long in our entire squad really. Latham can but is erractic!

Larkham is up there with Rogers in terms of kicking. He aint very good at it. Giteau is decent at kicking but nothing more than that. The one thing NZ kills us is kicking. Their 10 and 12 would be the 2 best kickers in world rugby IMO!

That is a terribly harsh call. Kicking might not be Larkham's strength, but to say he isn't very good at suggests that you are either ignorant, or joking.

There are games where he has a lead boot (Australia invariably loses these by the way), but more often than not he is an effective tactical kicker. Latham has a big clearance boot, and as mentioned Gerrard has a big boot - refer to the Ireland game where he actually kicked it dead and cost Australia huge field position...

the probability that mackay gets injured on the field would pay pretty low. like the odds that england will lose the first test!

i like barnes, but i havent seen enough of him. from what i saw in league, he was just a back-up dummy-half most of the time. but the thing is, that if we recruit leaguies, they gotta be smart. with that said, i never thought lote would be as successful as he is now.
