he should binge eat on fatty foods. get that weight up good with his heart clogging up to.

is he on a bulking diet and stuff? some of my mates used to be really really skinny before going on bulking up diets and doing gym work and they are huge now. maybe it has something to do with his age as well, maybe 1 or 2 years his body will be able to grow further then it is now naturally.

Alfie made it because he tripped people to make tackles. Not saying Walshy can't make it, but he's tiny. So was Toovey but.

Matty Bowen weighs 79kg
Todd Polglase weighs 85kg
Trent Cutler weighs 83kg

Thats just 3 of the smaller bloked I could think of.

I got all these from the teams sites if you want sources, our site is so bad compared to the other teams.

I met Preston Campell the other day. He is WAY shorter than me and I am 5'10''. But don't get me wrong, his shoulders and arms are absolutely HUGE. He is so ripped he even has veins in his biceps.

Bowen is about the same size I think, but he is much chunkier. Bowen's chest and shoulders look like he is walking around with a permanent hunch.

Walsh is 77ish. He will lose a couple as the season goes on.

The difference between bulking in the gym and bulking as a fooballer is all the cardio in your training.

While weights certainly burns the calories, Walsh preseason was training twice a day 5-6 days a week, weights and cardio..... very hard to put on weight.

yes - those are the skinny legs he has broken twice in two seasons - someone told me he spends an extra 20 hours a week in the gym - doesn't show

An extra 20 hours per week in the gym? That has to be way off the mark. He wouldn't go to the gym on game days and it's a million to one shot that he would work out the day before a game. That would equal doing an extra 4 hours per day in the gym than his team mates. It simply would not happen.

If it is 4 hours per day more than his team mates then it could well be 5 or 6 hours per day at the gym. After being at the gym for over an hour the body starts to use the muscles mass as a source of energy and in turn the muscle grows slower. Also he has to do ballwork sessions, recovery sessions, cardio work etc. This takes time. It is recommended not to do cardio work after a weights session as the body breaks down the muscles for energy and doing cardio before weights means the body is fatigued and the lifting ability is less.

Why not? It's not unusual.

It comes across as unusual when in addition to all his other training commitments. I could understand an extra hour or two in the gym 2-3 times per week, but if he really is doing 20 hours extra then you'd have to think it was getting to the point where it could be doing more harm than good.

It did come from one of our fellow forumers who is constantly telling me porkies on MSN - but he did seem to know what he was talking about.

Walsh in pre season was eating enough for two to gain weight.

The poor guy looked sick he was actually putting that much food in his mouth.

He was aiming for 80kg, he is still short of this goal.
Get him to watch the episode of the Simpsons where Homer gains weight to go on disability at the Power Plant. He could learn a thing or two :)

I'll teach him how to put on weight - i can put on a kilo by thinking about eating ice cream.
