Just the one's you asked about, Pika, couldn't find where I'd found the article quoting line breaks conceded, but I was wrong with Missed Tackles, we're 6th worst. Just over 30 a game, which is pretty f**king awful and lends credence to the line break theory. I'll try and dig that up.

Where do you get that stuff from?

NRL.com has a good selection of club and player stats that allow you to get aggregate scores and rank em. nrlstats.com has good player stats. I read most of the more general statements I post in the litany of Knights articles I read.

Its OK mate, it makes sense that if we are 8th in MT, we will around that for LB conceded.

We are equal second in LB which is cool :)

Yeah outright 2nd in tries. Our attack is fine.

I don;t think there is as much of a 1 for 1 correlation in LB's and MT, I know this sounds counterintuitive, I remember us being lower for LB conceded, and think that a disproportionate amount of LB's occur for us. We got broken a number of times against The Warriors. Yeah, after checking we got broken 6 times by them, and only broke them 4 times ourselves.

Plus we're 10th in MT, not 8th.

I am not going to make excuses here, but if you remove Sharks, where we were down to one sub, and the worst defensive half since Canberra and Broncos last year (Warriors last week) the stat is OK, but not great.

Yeah I suppose you're right, it's the trainwrecks that always stick at the forefront of my memory, perhaps thats it. I don't tend to contextualise numbers in terms of game specifics like that either. I just wanna beat the Dragons really badly, and am getting carried away with analysis.

God that would get our season off to a great start.

I have to admit that i have been far more comfortable this season with Hilder in the side than i have been with him out of it. It raises another selection headache for Smith, in so much as Patterson, Taia and Houston arguably demand selection at the moment ( at least Taia and Houston do and Corey is someone we want to give as much time to develop as possible ). So it poses an interesting problem; does having a bigger more deanderous attacker outweigh the advantage of having a smaller, fitter defensive oriented player in the lineup. I am guessing that Smith being a pragmatic kind of fellow will opt for a game by game selection there. So in essence I doubt Hilder will fill out the 13 non stop all of this season, no matter how well he plays. Hilders great appeal is his work rate, and toughness, he is the ideal player to have on the field the entire game, but he is also very valuable playing the back end of both halves as a cleanup style of player. I think for the short term at least, given our brittle defence down the middle at times that Hilder will probably remain a starter with patterson coming of the bench as an impact player.

Squad trained well all week.

We should give them a run mate.

That's why I'm excited, if we get it together we should beat em and beat em well. Just depends on our fading problem and ball control.

Just on Pato, he really looked physically ill on Sunday, is he suffering from a previous viral infection or something?

I thought he was just buggered. Wasn't it you who came to the same conclusion when talking about the kick he put in?

@JM, I wanted to put Simmo in Tolar's spot but felt he made more of an impact than Tolar and as such would be better off the bench than he was. Tolar is an excellent grafter in the opening exchanges, but not a hole punching power runner.

I know this is a big stretch. Buuuuuutttt... The 3 players I named match up in similar player mouds to the 3 you named.

Ok that's a massive stretch.

They might match up in some ways, but not on fan appeal, which is what puts bums on seats.

Yeah I more ment you've got the rangey solid backrower who can attack and defend, the ball playing back rower who can spot a gap or put another player through one and the little guy that just rips in, gives 110% everygame and never lets you down.

Fan appeal is not even in the same hemisphere. Is that entirely the players fault? I don't think so.

i think house has as much fan appeal as any second rower. no-one will ever match BK in that regard though.

hilder is more or less in the exact same mould as billy peden.

basically all your post says is that we don't have a BK anymore karma. the thing is, no team does at the moment. our outside backs have the ability and flair to put plenty more bums on seats to compensate... particularly aku and sau.
