Even on CNN tonight, on a show called Cross-fire, both the left-wing and right-wing host were ridiculing the french fry protest.

A protest that sticks in my mind was when the French were testing their nukes. What a shop in Melbourne did was to throw away their entire collection of French porno movies.

The way they disposed of it was to put all the tapes in a big box and place it out the front of the store. I actually spent a couple of hours trying to figure out ways to get to Melbourne. :(

On a separate issue (but funny none the less), my uncle has spent many a minute at Hungry Jacks arguing with the drive thru person when they ask if he wants french fries. He will argue everytime with the person, saying that he doesn't want french fries but will have some chips. He refuses to have them called french fries

And then I was in the car once and the woman asked if he wanted ketchup....Needless to say, he wanted some bloody sauce!

Cheers,
Moffo

Bloody hell

I've just had a look in one of the local TV guides up here....obviously Kerry Stokes has a hotline with the White House.

It goes something along the lines of:

The following changes were made too late to amend the TV Guide.

Monday March 17
Delete - Home Improvement, Ch7, 4:30
Insert - Seven News - Target Iraq Special, Ch7, 4:30

Tuesday March 18

WednesdayMarch 19

Incidentally, the most I've ever paid for petrol was $1.35 at Belyando Crossing, halfway between Charters Towers and Emerald. I was not impressed but had no other choice, with the next servo a mere 250km in either direction

Currently in Mossman it's $1.05

Severe sand storms in the middle east and forecasts of more storms are creating new urgency for the attacking forces.

The mediasay the storms may increase the liklihood of a 'pre-emptive' strike from Saddam Hussain and the weather conditions are making an invasioneven more difficult.
The media however makes a contradiction and say that US forces may have to go in early because of the storms.

These sand storms and the media responsesraises a few questions:

1.) Since when does a country surrounded by hostile forces and under constant attack make a 'pre-emptive strike'?
2.) Is the urgency over the sand storms really to do with getting clear pictures for the TV?
3.) Is God (or mother nature)also against the war?

Meanwhile, Aid Agencies are stocking up and preparing for the looming humanitarian crisis.

I'm rather shocked to see some of LWOS' resident Pinko's showing a bit ofthe capitalist within by being mainly concerned with the price of petrol! I expect a little more from the lunatic Left on such a contensious topic.

As for my views on the "Great Anglo Alliance of All Things Good and Proper" taking on Iraq, I see things a little differently.

Firstly, having the troops there is the only reason any disarming has occured at all. In this situation, the only true diplomacy is the treat of military might. The UN is a completely useless organisation. It is a toothless Tiger and has been quite ineffective in solving any of the worlds problems. The threat of miliatary might is the only way anything will get done.

Secondly, I sincerely hope to God that war is overted. The best thing would be for the GAAATGAP, to see Iraq disarmed to a level where the Iraqi people and Army can stand up and Revolt against the henious regieme of Saddam Hussien. All though I'm being a little optomistic here (where I usually am quite a pessemist), I'm still not convinced that war will occur and that the intention, despite all the gun ho bravado is to see Saddam disarm with out firing a single shot.

As far as I am concerned alot of all the political discussion is more about countries seving their own best interests. Here are a few of my thoughts on different nations:

America are in it for Oil and to finish off unfinished bussiness. It is also to get weapons out of the hands of people who might pass it on to terrorists. Ironically, it was the CIA who armed both these groups in the first place.
Spain by supporting Great Britain and America want Gilbitar. Despite 98% of the population voting to remain Brittish, Spain want it back as a moral victory. This may also have something to do with Territory desputes with Morocco.
France want to make a name for themselves and are trying to turn themselves into a Super power. By forming a coalition with Germany, they effectively conqured Western Europe.
Germany want to be seen as the good guys. They have reached some of their World War II objectives through the EU by joining France.
Turkey doesn't want a bar of it because any War in Iraq will possible see the formation of a Kurdish state and Turkey will see that as a potential threat because of how the Kurdish population in Turkey might react.
Russia posses some huge Oil Fields so keeping Iraq out of the market is good economics. They also want to aviod the world looking towards their own internal problems with Cheneya.

No matter what happens, many innocent Iraqi's are going to die in a War led by the GAAATGAP, or in an internal over throwing of Saddam.

Saint: I agree with some of what you said and disgree withyou onother parts. Thats normal in debate and discussion.
But you stuffed it all up with an introduction that made no sense. You have seemingly attacked people from a low-level, cynical and parasitical ditch.

"I'm rather shocked to see some of LWOS' resident Pinko's showing a bit ofthe capitalist within by being mainly concerned with the price of petrol!"
Thats exposes your preoccupation with the isolating minor events and trying to blow them up into something that they are not.

"I expect a little more from the lunatic Left on such a contensious topic."
That exposes your inability to avoid generalisations. You rigidly adhere to one view... you may change that view from time to time but will remain narrowly attached to what you think on the day. Basically, you see everything as black and white and refuse to allow people latitude as they deal with ths worrying event.

Otherwise, it was a half worthwhile post.

Well Willow, I was looking for a good debate on the issue and I must say I was quite disapointed. Especially considering the variety of political leanings and passion you might expect from this forum.

Right or Wrong, Pigeon Holeing people is an effective way of getting people to debate.

Saint: I've been screaming anti-war stuff from the roof tops for over a year now and have had pretty heated debates. IMO, invading Iraqmakes no sense. It will increase terrorism, ruin economies anddivide humanity...and this is before we even begin to talk about the human suffering.

I've called it an Oil War during all this time and wasinitially surprised to find out that not everyone shared this view (...I mean, it's obvious isnt it?) but I haveto acceptthat it takes all kinds to make a world.

While I've noticed more people coming to the same view, there comes a time when people are entitled to have a breather, crack afew jokes, and think of more mundane things.

I guessits part of anopen and unhindered debate on a public forum.

Yeah ! Shame on you,Saint ! Fancy rigidly adhering to one view. Not a trait exhibited by anyone else in this forum.;)

Damn it midas, I keep forgetting about taking your view into consideration...what was I thinking?

FYI, Its not the first time that The Saint made a veiled swipe at this forum. Maybe this time I just felt like telling someone to get stuffed... maybe I was pissed, maybe I didnt care either way.... maybe I was just trying to get under Deano's nose. Take your choice. But then again, I accept you might not be in the best frame of minds this morning. For that, you have my sympathy.

btw,This old westie can save you the effort of looking up the big words... a ditch is something you dig. ;)

To be honest, I have heard ofsomeone being called a parasitical bitch... I've even met a few.
But I really have no idea what a parasitical ditch is.It conjures up imagery of being stuck in hole full of maggots... but this seems to lose something in the translation. Perhaps next time I'll just stick with 'get stuffed'.... a much safer insult.

France want to make a name for themselves and are trying to turn themselves into a Super power. By forming a coalition with Germany, they effectively conqured Western Europe

For what it's worth, I read recently that France is taking the position it is because there is a growing number of Muslims in france, mainly Algerians, and the government doesn't want to antagonize them.
