Crowd just got a wrap from FoxSports commentators for being vocal. Which of you boys there are arking up?

Guilty
Voice is gone, some good banter with the knights supporters to.
Boys played awesum which made it better for us.
Cos it was telelvised i didnt bother writing a report, just cheered them on. Got there heaps early and wrote a few notes before hand. Cant believe the team Ricky Henry had available. Possibly the best Warriors ISP team ever assembled and i can confidently say that they would push the Warriors 1st grade side for a win. Their bench is better than some 1st grade benches.
Siad to a couple of the fans during the 1st half their was no way the Knights were going to get through the Warriors defence. Defence outstanding awesum attitude. All the players are heaps humble and came over and thanked us for turning up, then took everyone in to the changing rooms to do the team song with the players

Three more games to go, climaxing on NRL Grand Final Day, when we represent NSW against Qld.

That's doable with our side.

There must be a huge jump between 1st and reserve grade. Warriors players that are average or less than average in 1st grade, look very, very good in reserves.

A defensive masterclass paved the way for the Vodafone Warriors to move within one win of the grand final after dominating Newcastle in a 30-6 win in tonight's sudden-death Intrust Super Premiership semi-final at UOW Jubilee Oval in Sydney.

Right across the park the Vodafone Warriors delivered a cocktail of intensity and aggression on defence, especially on their line, as they denied the Knights a try until the final moments of the match.

Missing a number of their key performers, the Vodafone Warriors dropped their week one finals clash 20-36 to Penrith but couldn't have rebounded any more impressively to keep their season alive.

In the opening 19 minutes they had shouldered a heavy defensive workload, forced to repel a number of sets on their goal-line.

They did it expertly, too, ultimately transitioning out of defence to work the first try of the contest as soon as they had a sniff.

It came in the 20th minute and predictably enough the influential Mason Lino was the architect. The play came out to the right, he slipped through a delightful grubber and centre Matt Allwood, making his 49th ISP appearance for the club, raced through to pounce for his 12th try of the season. Lino's conversion veered just inside the near upright for a 6-0 lead.

When two points were on offer twice soon after the Vodafone Warriors chose to go again and, in the 34th minute, had further reward from the pressure they were applying.

First Ata Hingano produced a fantastic 40/20 kick. From the repeat set the ball came left to Hingano; with a show and go he ghosted through and just managed to get the ball down on the line for Lino to make it 12-0.

The lead was the least the Vodafone Warriors deserved after a polished first 40 minutes.

They began the second spell just as effectively, setting the tone with their up-tempo, pulverising defence and solid possession football based around their big forwards dominating up the middle.

In the 49th minute more points came, Hingano punching a teasing low kick towards the posts. Lino and fullback Zac Santo put pressure on, Santo stealing the ball and getting it down between the posts. Lino took a knock in the contest for the ball so Junior Pauga took the conversion instead to open up an 18-0 lead.

It was set to increase when a Hingano kick wasn't tidied up in-goal by the Knights but the ball curled away from wing Bureta Faraimo hunting the try-scoring opportunity.

The Vodafone Warriors' defensive work was nothing less than exceptional all night. They kept turning up time after time, monstering the Knights with some massive contact, the quality of their work best illustrated by the way they held up veteran Knights forward Mickey Paea over the line four times and later denied him a fifth time.

There had to be points on the end of the defensive effort and in the 66th minute they came, prop Charlie Gubb - inspirational throughout - off loading to hooker Manaia Cherrington who pumped a long pass wide to the left for the prolific Faraimo to snare another try. Lino's conversion was superb for a 24-0 lead.

Six minutes later lovely hands close to the ruck uncorked the try of the night, Cherrington clearing to Albert Vete from dummy half and the big prop delightfully popping a sweet ball back inside for Santo to jet onto and scorch 60 metres for the touchdown. Lino was again clinical with the conversion to take the advantage out to 30-0.

The one blot on the night's work came in the final minutes when the Knights worked a try for right wing Curtis Naughton but the win was well and truly sealed, setting up a preliminary final next weekend against minor premier Wyong.

Very doable. That would be great to see.

Side note, watching Vete last night, I can't help but hope that Corvo gets him primed in the off season. The guy is a unit and could be such a weapon for the first grade side.

An unchanged Vodafone Warriors line-up has been named to face minor premiers the Wyong Roos in Sunday’s Intrust Super Premiership preliminary final at Leichhardt Oval (1.05pm kick-off local time; 3.05pm NZT).

Coming off Sunday’s impressive 30-6 semi-final success agauinst Newcastle, the Vodafone Warriors meet a Wyong side which advanced directly to week three of the playoffs after beating fourth-placed Canterbury-Bankstown 34-26 in the qualifying finals.

Roosters star Lattrell Mitchell scored two tries in Wyong’s 20-14 success over the Vodafone Warriors at Mount Smart Stadium in late April while the Vodafone Warriors scored a late converted try to draw 26-26 with the Roosters’ feeder side in round 24 last month.

Wyong finished four points clear of the second-placed Vodafone Warriors in the regular season. Familiar faces for the Roos this year have included halves Mitchell Cornish and Jayden Nikorima, centre Joseph Manu and Eloni Vunakece, all of whom have appeared at NRL level for the Roosters while Cornish has also played for Canberra.

The Vodafone Warriors’ expected starting 17 includes 14 players with NRL experience, the only three non-first graders being centre Junior Pauga, prop Daniel Palavi and second rower Ofahiki Ogden, all former NYC players for the club. The most experienced NRL players are front rowers Albert Vete (44 games) and Charlie Gubb (40 games).

The Vodafone Warriors overcame a shortage of possession, a corresponding heavy defensive workload, a lop-sided penalty count and a modest completion rate to account for the Knights convincingly last Sunday night.

Possession favoured Newcastle 56 per cent to 44 percent while the Vodafone Warriors completed only 25 of 37 sets (68 per cent) and also lost the penalty count 10-5. It resulted in them making 346 tackles to just 277 for Newcastle yet they worked their way to a 30-0 lead before conceding a try inside the final three minutes. While they defended courageously they also benefited from superb kicking games from Mason Lino and Ata Hingano.

The performance gives the Vodafone Warriors the chance to make the ISP grand final for just the second time. As a joint Vodafone Warriors-Auckland Rugby League venture, the Auckland Vulcans lost the then-New South Wales Cup grand final 28-30 to Canterbury-Bankstown in 2011.

Centre Matt Allwood will this week become the fifth player to make 50 ISP appearances for the club since it took over the running of the side in 2014. He follows John Palavi and Upu Poching plus James Bell (64 games) and Mason Lino (54 games) who also reached the mark this season.

  • Lino was one of the three finalists for the Intrust Super Premiership Player of the Year award announced last night. The other two were Cameron Cullen (Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles) and Mitch Rein (Penrith). Cullen won the title

these guys would beat Warriors 1st grade.

Ill be there, anyone else going

I know you're not asking me. I'm even taking the extra-early train in, so I can catch the warm-ups and as much pre-match vibe as possible.

I hope it's not the last time this season that the, now familiar, Murray's coach rocks up to the ground with our boys on it.

It really sucks that we lost the first finals game.

This should be the grand final. 2 best teams all year clearly.

PNG Hunters already in the QLD Cup GF.

NZ Warriors vs PNG Hunters on GF day would be pretty special. Yes it's only ISP and doesn't mean much, but would add something really different to the day.

heres some video highlights of last weeks game for those of you who have seen zero footage like myself.
I could watch Santo's 2nd try all day. Beautiful. Had a touch of Wade/Webby about it.

Been trying to find an online source for the game. Looks likes theres live streaming on NSWRL FB page.
Copied a couple of links. First link is showing the Ron Massey cup live at the moment so may have to check the second link (main page on FB) tomorrow to make sure you get the right feed.

Wyong advanced to next week's grand final after denying a fast-finishing Vodafone Warriors side to win 16-12 in today's Intrust Super Premiership preliminary final at Leichhardt Oval.

The Vodafone Warriors set themselves a difficult task after conceding a 0-12 halftime lead and then fell 0-16 behind just nine minutes into the second half.

It was the cue for a comeback which saw them score through Toaf Sipley in the 52nd minute and then Jazz Tevaga nine minutes later to trail by just four points with plenty of time left.

However, they were unable to convert any of a number of opportunities they had to go ahead in the last 15 minutes, the Roos hanging on resolutely to end the Vodafone Warriors' solid season one step short of the decider.

Wyong had wasted no time producing the game's first points, working to its right inside the first four minutes to give centre Joseph Manu some room to work in. He stood up the defence, the cover unable to round him up as he dashed in at the corner, Mitchell Cornish converting superbly for a 6-0 lead.

The Vodafone Warriors defended expertly on their own line to prevent a second strike, responding with repeat sets at Wyong's end off a penalty and a goal-line dropout.

When Wyong standoff Jayden Nikorima broke through the Vodafone Warriors scrambled well again and then generated some momentum with a sustained period inside the Roos' red zone.

Points wouldn't come, though, and there was also cause for anxiety when left centre Junior Pauga went down with a leg injury which forced a long stoppage in play. While he stayed on the field for a few minutes he was clearly struggling and was soon replaced, forcing a back-line reshuffle.

The Vodafone Warriors regrouped and came back at Wyong but wanted for execution on their last tackle plays.

At the 30-minute mark they needed more superb goal-line defence to jolt the ball loose as big Wyong forward Jake Lewis was looking to plant ball between the posts.

But three minutes later the Roos had reward, Nikorima chipping and brilliantly re-gathering to score, running around closer to the posts to hand Cornish a straightforward conversion for a valuable 12-0 lead closing in on halftime.

The Vodafone Warriors were under the pump, Wyong making big ground up the middle and earning a penalty for a shot at another try before the break.

The Roos appeared to loose possession but it was ruled the Vodafone Warriors had played at the ball giving Wyong yet another set in the red zone. The call was dubious and fortunately it wasn't costly, the Vodafone Warriors forcing an error as Wyong hunted a third try.

Having dodged a try then the Vodafone Warriors conceded one early in the second half when Manu had his second try of the day in the 48th minute.

At 0-16 down the Vodafone Warriors were in a hole but they conjured up the ideal response in a matter of minutes with Sipley powering up with an unstoppable surge from close range to go over between the posts. Mason Lino slotted the conversion to trim the deficit to 6-16.

Minutes later they again needed some stopping ability to prevent Wyong restoring its advantage.

The Vodafone Warriors steadied again, punched up the middle and Tevaga made it back-to-back tries for his side, ghosting across field, stepping off his right and scooting through. Lino converted from in front to have his side just four points behind at 12-16.

An Ata Hingano last tackle kick was left to bounce by the Wyong defence. There was a chance of forcing a goal-line dropout but the chasers couldn't round up fullback Luke Sharp who made it back into the field of play broke up the middle.

Back the Vodafone Warriors came making ground effortlessly up the middle only for a forward pass to be called.

They were then reduced to 12 men heading into the last 11 minutes when Matt Allwood was sin binned for a professional foul.

Now the Vodafone Warriors needed real courage. They found it, too, with some marvellous defence to deny Wyong a try wide out. It was followed by a defensive penalty which allowed the Vodafone Warriors to work away from their end, followed by another penalty inside Wyong's half.

It was golden opportunity but an error followed, giving the Roos a passage out of danger. They threatened down their left but the Vodafone Warriors took wing Chris Centrone into touch.

With just six minutes left it was desperation time.

Lino went to the air to the right but the Roos defused the kick. Inside the last three minutes the Vodafone Warriors pressed with Hingano twice stretching the defence.

An attacking scrum 10 metres out gave the visitors another chance. Albert Vete was held up, Ligi Sao had a charge, Isaiah Papali'i popped an offload out the back and Wyong knocked on. Another attacking scrum with two minutes to play.

The Vodafone Warriors hammered at the line and then went to the short side on the left but Ofa Ogden was rounded up by multiple defenders and taken into touch.

That was it. Wyong had a defensive scrum, held on and won the match to reach the grand final.

For the Vodafone Warriors, natural disappointment after what had been a solid campaign throughout the season. They pushed the year's minor premiers all the way - as they had in their two regular season mettings - but couldn't quite find a way.

All in all a pretty successful season. Combinations probably disrupted towards the end with losing several players to the first grade squad. No one more important than their General, Mason Lino. Hardly a unique situation to this club though. Looking forward to next year, and hopefully the number of televised games gets upped.
