If Johnson ends up at the Sharks wonder what they will mean for Townsend. Does Johnson take over his spot and they leave Moylan at five eighth or so they go with a Johnson/Townsend pairing with Moylan at the back.

You’d think Moylan would slot back there.

He’s an average fullback but he’d get the job done

Shaun Johnson may already have a verbal agreement to go to the glamour club the Sydney Roosters in 2020.

If that is true and he signs for the Roosters from 2020 then the Roosters are hot favourites to win three grand finals back to back.

I'm struggling to see why we (Easts) would sign Johnson for 2020. We like to develop our own players. Lachlan Lam will be our halfback once Coops retires. Throwing big money at SJ7 isn't our modus operandi

There was a 1:36 video of the warriors CEO on nrl.com where he had some very strong and insinuating words on the matter, but the video seems to have been taken down and replaced by the generic cuddly/feely 3:00min presser. I can see the 1:36 up but when you go to it, it takes you to the 3:00 one everytime, wonder if the warriors got the NRL to retract the video?

Can you remember what he said?

Solid first grader. Nothing exceptional.

Once Cooper Cronk retires we will enter the Golden Era of NRL 'Plod-backs'.

along the lines of ‘we want players here that are committed, that will put in 100%, that will put the time and work in for the supporters and sponsors’ as an outsider and reading between the lines it sounded like Johnson told them he would do the bare minimum on and off the field if they kept him around
for 2019.

Ah okay, yeah that was in the media release as well on the Warriors website. Cameron George is not a fan.

If the sharks actually pick him up that’s a great signing. Johnson would look good behind that forward back and you’d think he would want to prove himself.

Not sure where this leaves the warriors. Guess it’s time they’ll have to build a team that doesn’t rely on Johnson.

The did that pretty effectively at times with Green and Lino last year, obviously Lino is gone but he was hardly an irreplaceable talent, rather a solid first grade half at best. Obviously we still need a replacement but the days of "we're f**ked without Johnson are well in the past now.

Based on what well connected forumers are saying over on the Warriors forum this is indeed what happened.

And those people were saying this before this article was posted...

Johnson is a touch player first and foremost. Moments of brilliance followed by times of stupidity.
