So there it is. I said at the start of Bennett's reign that he'd leave without a premiership at the knights, and so it is.
I'm pretty sure that was Raider69 who said that actually
 Indeed
In all seriousness, I'll be very keen to see what happens at this next stop. This knights era bee a fiasco under his watch and it's taken a little of the shine off his reputation as a super coach.
The Broncos were set up to be a dynasty no matter who coached them. His best job in terms of achievement was probably the dragons.
In all seriousness I think he's taken a bigger risk by leaving than he would have by staying. Even if the Knights never went well under him in the future a lot would put it down to the Knights just being shit. At the very least he would have gotten props for sticking it out when the going got tough. What happens if his new squad don't fire either? You can bet wherever he goes it will be the side most likely to succeed.
The only positives of his time here in my mind are helping Mullen with his confidence, signing Gagai and signing Scott. Nothing else really springs to mind, which is a shame. I expected more from the master coach.
Another side note... Bennett is moving on and Origin is over for the year, what f**ks has Darius Boyd got left to give?
It's going to be facinating viewing to see how he plays out the rest of this season.
One advantage if Stone picks up the gig is his involvement with the lower grades and potential influence on some of the talent coming through to stick with the club

Bennett runs as soon as he sees trouble on the horizon. He got out of Brisbane the moment he could see their golden years of brilliant players had ended, and he ran from Saints the moment the job was done and he knew the only way was down with the aging roster they had. Things turned to shit at the Knights so quickly (within the space of half a season) he couldn't get out before the shit hit the fan. He's never had to rebuild a club from the bottom before. He saw the prospect of doing that at Newcastle and it scared the shit outa him I reckon.
I certainly still think Bennett is a good coach, but after listening to his reason for leaving on MMM it's left a bad taste in my mouth. He pretty much said that he loved the club and the town and if the side was performing better he would have stayed on. How are the players supposed to feel listening to that? How are they supposed to get up for the rest of the season, especially Rise for Alex round when the coach has already thrown the towel in and pretty much said they're a lost cause that he doesn't know how to fix?
