I'm just a mug fan, and no...I dont need anyone to spell it out for me....but he's the 6 time premiership winning coach, hes the ex origin and ex kangaroo coach, he's the one thats worked with the greatest footy talent in the world, hes the brains behind the broncos and as such I think his thoughts would be as interesting as the game itself, yet he continues with the 14yo emo impersonations.

No it's a realistic view, the only people who give a crap about these press conferences are those who indulge themselves in wank, like tabloid reporters.

FOR all the good he does away from rugby league, Wayne Bennett did himself no favours last night with his post-match press conference.

In his first live performance on Fox Sports, the wider public saw a man showing contempt to his fans by ducking every single question.

Bennett smirked as he brushed reasonable questions away, believing he was very clever. But he only managed to highlight his own weakness in not facing up to the state of his struggling club.

Bennett's press conferences have never been enjoyable for journos. Last night the fans could see for themselves just how evasive he can be when it comes to straight answers.

Brisbane fans want answers, and as usual, they're not getting them. This week Bennett should ask for his five-minute press conference to be added to his match tape for review. It told a lot more about Brisbane's problems than the 80 minutes before it.

The media are the only avenue a coach has to be able to communicate with fans of their team. Bennett has shown contempt before about Broncos fans opinions, saying that he is the coach etc. What ol' Mr Smiley forgets is that the fans pay him. No fans, no corporate sponsorship, no paid coaching roles.

Saab, Locky, NQboy - you three were amongst the ones laying into Johns for skipping press conferences.

You didn't see fit to apply the logic you use in here on Johns - 'Oh he's the Newcastle captain, it's not his job to answer questions for the media.' 'Oh Johns has always been that way, he doens't have to budge an inch'

You make the mistake of thinking for Brisbane fans. But that is your justification for the chance to lay into Wayne Bennett. Nobody is fooled.

You'll find that Brisbane suporters are happy with the stance their coach takes regarding the Sydney media. He treats them with the contempt they deserve.

Johns been childish and spitting the dummy by not turning up even though he does not have to is no different to Bennett spitting the dummy and behaving childish because he does have to attend.

If you lay into Johns for what he did re press conferences but then go into battle for Bennet - Pot > Kettle > Black.

At least he attended the conference.
Johns couldnt even take 2 minutes of his precious time to accept an award from Parramatta when he broke the scoring record.

He should be ashamed, when the broncs are on a winning streak he sure does give more at press conferences.


And yes, he should be doing more to promote the game, the only time he does it when it suits him or the broncos.
