I can understand Saints fans frustration. It would hurt. I just wish u guys can see we are not laughing about this. We empathise.
Nice comments, Newie but we all understand now that the 'working man's' game is unforunately now a business. Bennett knows King well and he also knows that the Dragons see a future no. 9 and club captain in King. Huge blow if if if if he leaves. But then again he may not, it could be paper talk.

I saw Cameron play SG Ball with St.George but I am sure he is from Wagga. He captained the Australian school boys and is a future club captain. I really hope the Dragons can hold on to him. I have been watching him in reserve grade and he is great to watch. He can play 9, 13, 7 and 6. A brilliant talent.

He is from Wagga but moved to Sydney at 14 and played for Hurstville and attended Endeavour SH. He's a Dragons jnr

Look, this sucks for the Dragons but you have to look at it from Waynes POV. He has 4 years to bring success to Newcastle (we all know he is back to Brisbane in 2016) and he knows the types of players he needs to suppliment the roster he has.

Boyd, Costigan and Cuthbo were journeymen and McKinnon is a Hunter boy. Naiqama and Houston were never missed by the club after they left. Scott is a SOO class player and was looking for a big contract and King is earmarked as the bext big thing out of NSW. The reality is the Dragons would have struggled to keep them given the interest from other clubs and Wayne is a coach just about every player wants to play for.

The Dragons have one of the best jnr nurserys in the country at their disposal, they will always have a strong roster

Toohey's article in today's telegraph says that Scott approached the Knights and Bennett wanted to know if he was leaving Saints 'for the right reasons' - whatever that means.
It basically implied that Bennett would not approach Saints players - which doesn't mean he wouldn't talk to this kid if the kid decided it was in his best interests to be coached by Bennett, trained by Hickman, have specialist coaching by Bedsy and have a clear run at a vacant number 9 jersey. When you look at it that way, he'd be crazy not to sound out Bennett.

King is a gun, if I had to choose a young hooker to sign, my first choice would be Jake Friend, but King wouldn't be far behind. I can understand why'd he'd maybe want to leave the dragons, he's stuck behind another fantastic young hooker in Mitch Rein

King's better than Rein, IMO. I'd have him in first grade this week but he limped off the field in y'day's reserve grade game after only playing for 15 minutes.

The only reason King is behind Rein is because last year King tore his pectorial in the WCC & missed most of the year. I think (hope) Price is just getting his fitness up & hopefully giving Fien the tap on the shoulder.

I'd personally have King ahead of Rein too, but Rein is playing too well to be demoted (I didn't see last nights game so not sure how he went)

That is one player. All I can say is it is a rap on Saints nursery all this. South Coast jnrs are a different level of player.
Last time i saw statistics - a few years ago admittedly, the teams with the most juniors in the NRL were

1 NZ
2 Broncos
3 Knights just ahead of
4 Saints

I imagine the Newcastle and Wollongong nurseries are close now, and have been for 100 years, but we are the bigger area and would mostly be slightly in front.

Interesting Beau approached us. Easy to see why Saints fans are concerned about his commitment. Beau will put in. He has his future sorted. Time to dig in for the Red V.

I was just showing they have stolen our players in the past. If you want to go back to when they were St George they stole a fair few Newcastle players. All this rubbish about us stealing there players is crap you buy the best players on the market no matter where there from. Maybe Saints will one day have won as many comps as us:D

Not rocket science....NZ has north and south island to choose from, brisbane has QLD to choose from, saints have carlton and Kogarah, last time I looked there was one....what a joke. The St.George/Illawarra Dragons can get their local talent from the Illawarra area. Surely Penrith has one of the biggest drawing areas.

Mate your opinion is completely respected by me. I was just trying to point out why Saints fans have a strong argument. Ennis as we now know was a big loss. He did have the best Dummy half on the planet in front of him though in Beds.

Have alot of respect for your club and their supporters blue collar people who get right behing their local team, but gotta say the Beau Scott departure hurt a fair bit when I heard on Friday night and good luck to him and your club when he gets their next season I'm sure you will have a great season. For the first time in about 7 years I didn't watch a Dragons game on the box, just really pissed me off that a player trade can be announced before round 2 especially when it is a much liked and respected player, the Nrl really needs to sort out when a better window of time on player negotiations is done. But again congrats on the signing of Beau, and now I read this morning you will be signing Cameron King on a 4 year deal, I'm absolutely gutted now and just speechless he is our best junior at the club easily and has a massive future and he is a player alot of us Dragons thought the team would be built around. Nothing against the Knights or Bennett just looking after their better interests but it's just f**ked, it really is a business now isn't it ? very sad, good luck today guys.
