Yeah who could have foreseen one team winning the cc final, the minor premiership and making the gf?

That never happens in super league...

So if the 3 venues will be:
DW Stadium (25k)
Headingley (21k)
Langtree Park (18k)

Then it means we should hopefully be looking at 3 sellout crowds! Though if Leeds win tomorrow, I suspect they will use Ellland Road instead, like they have done in the past.

The rules were not withheld at all, it was supposed to be the GF winner, CC winner and LLS winner. Since Leeds have won two and possibly all three trophies, they have included the other Grand Finalist and the third-placed SL team. Maybe they should've included the beaten CC finalists instead but I don't think anyone is seriously upset about Hull KR not being there.

When you put out incomplete rules, it's either intentional or incompetent.

They've deliberately withheld any rules about who is third in this situation so they could make it up as they go. Now they have and they've set a precedent. But no doubt they'll change the rules to suit in the future when needed. The way the rfl contrive everything makes the vfl look legit.

Yeah cos the aussies sent the top 3 last year didn't they....oh hang on..idiot

They didnt wait till it was all sorted and then pretend there were rules after all. I suppose when you have a comp only three teams can win you might as well contrive to have those three teams "qualify" no matter what. When you have a public that can buy into a ridiculous "super 8" gimmick before the same teams play for the trophy every year you can probably tell them any old bullshit and get away with it. Like selling two meaningless trial games as something important for example.

It's a very simple concept to organise. Take the top 4 finishers from both leagues and make it an 8-team challenge. Alternate between England and Australia each year.

Can't see them moving it from Headingley IMO.

Much too simple and fair a concept for either governing body to comprehend. After all it would reward the few instead of the many and not have that edge of randomness that particularly the australians love to introduce, i.e unbalanced nrl draw

Long term i hope that is what it becomes, has the potential to be a massive interest and money generator for both countries.

Given some of the attendances they've had there over the years, I don't see why they shouldn't book Elland Rd if it's available that day.

2005: 37,208 (vs Bulldogs)
2008: 33,204 (vs Storm)
2009: 32,569 (vs Manly)
2010: 27,697 (vs Storm)

Dare I say, Cowboys are a bigger drawcard than the likes of Storm, Manly and Bulldogs were. The 21,000 that Headingley holds is a bit small. It would be a shame for one single fan to miss out, let alone 10,000. Anyway, I suppose time will tell.

You have to take into account that some neutrals went to these games & it was a one off. Not saying they wouldn't get into the 30's but it's unlikely some fans from other clubs will be forking out to watch this game when they have a game of there own.

Hopefully I will get to Leeds to see the WCC final.

Fair point, but they will still get a LOT of neutrals from other teams. They have the biggest drawcard match plus the whole of the Yorkshire area and east neutrals to themselves. Whereas the ones in Lancashire will be split between the other two matches.

No doubt, me and our kid hoping to get to Leeds game, depends on me getting holiday day as starting new job in November. He's a Castleford fan so like you mention - neutrals will go & will be great to see Thurston rip the Rhino's apart - well hope so anyway.

I agree with you, more capacity, and better accessibility at Elland road, it's just my gut feeling saying they will stick to Headingley and bring the Cowboys to their home fortress. Hope i'm wrong and we get a 30K+ Elland road!

Plus leeds have to pay to hire the dump..

This was st helens argument last year...why pay to hire somewhere and lose money in the food & beer stalls etc...when we can play at langtree and keep 100% of everything!

Yeah, as someone from Leeds who's 6'3, Elland Rd wasn't redeveloped for me. Give me the atmosphere of 20,000 at headingley over 25,000 or so at ER any day too!

Sydney Roosters could rack up 80 points against St Helens next weekend unless the English team dramatically improves its attitude, according to their halfback Luke Walsh.
As the tricolours set up camp in Dubai – where the self-governed rugby league is illegal – and the majority of Brisbane's World Club Series squad arrived in London, the Roosters' opponents sunk to a shock 44-10 Super League defeat at Salford.
Making matters worse for the team flogged 39-0 by South Sydney last year was a knee injury to centre Mark Percival and the likely unavailability of hooker James Roby (ribs) at Langtree Park on Friday night.
The stage seems set for a confidence boosting outing for Trent Robinson's side, which has been pummelled by the Mitchell Pearce affair and an injury to Boyd Cordner during the off-season.

"Our attitude was off … they'll put 80 on us. They're a great side, the Roosters, and we have to be 10 times better than we were tonight," former Penrith half Walsh told Fairfax Media at AJ Bell Stadium after the heavy defeat.
"And I think we will be.
"Hopefully Robes is a chance. Having a look at Perc, he's no chance. Robes will be touch and go."
Coach Kieron Cunningham said: "We didn't approach the game with the right mindset.
"You could smell an air of complacency about the place before the game and I said to the staff I was a little bit worried about that.
"We'll respond next week. The disappointing thing for me as a coach is that we actually thought we got some consistency into the place."
Friday's match is intended to mark the 40th anniversary of the first World Club Challenge, played at Sydney Sports Ground between the same clubs.
On Saturday, old enemies Wigan and Brisbane square off for the second year in a row at DW Stadium while the World Club Challenge pits North Queensland against Leeds at Headingley.
Australian referee Matt Cecchin is tipped to get the nod for that clash.
At Heathrow, Broncos back rower Alex Glenn made it clear NRL players still see the six-team tournament as a pre-season trial when the side arrived without coach Wayne Bennett and his posse of All Stars.
"We still see it as a trial. But in saying that both teams have a lot to play for, everyone's fighting for positions," New Zealand and Cook Islands international Glenn told AAP.
