Been watching it myself - he's done very well so far! Kicking game in particular has been really good.

Karma, he's injured.

Isn't that what Luke Walsh was meant to be? Injury prone?

Article said the other day our reserve grade half was cleared to play tomorrow night and again expected to be overlooked for selection.

Did you just read the previous posts. He was overlooked for Monday night, and Coby said something about he has already played this weekend.

Brian overlooked him for Monday night. And if he played this weekend already, he can play again tomorrow night, that's how good he is :sarcasm:

I cant believe people actually posted in this thread TBH.

Though it provides a nice change to the Smith/Stone discussion I am bored with.

I believe Stone has been doing a lot of the decision making recently. I saw him personally address the entire side before they went out against manly in the second half.

As for Walsh. I guess more of the same from him today, lovely distribution and organising, his defence was up and down. He pulled off a try saver on dave taylor on the line, then missed a few easy ones later on. He still has more talent in his little toe than dureau has in his entire body imo. Which is why we will continue to see Mullen as the 7 and Rogers as the 6.

Definately the Smith show.

Stone has had no more or no less input since the announcement.

How reassuring. The report by the Telegraph today made it sound like a freak show at training when Stone was named coach. Smithy read a prepared statement to his players. He simply cannot improvise this man. No wonder he dodges the media. Then when Stone is announced as coach a huge roar goes up. That is just surreal.

You've said before Pika that Stone is a Luke Walsh fan.

Obviously can't change the decision to let Walsh go now, but ( and I'm going to push you for an answer here ), for the rest of this season, and from what you know of Rick Stone, do you personally feel he'll stick with Rogers/Mullen or bring in Dureau for the remainder of the year ( if all players are injury free like they are as of today )?

By announcement, I meant three weeks ago.

Smith cleared his desk and left, so since 9.00am Saturday morning, it has been the Stone show.

Hard for me to say Karma. Scott played local yesterday, but he was coming back from injury so I am not sure which way he will go with the halves.

I expect much more from the forwards. I would imagine a heavier bench, an extra prop.

I would guess Lulia back on the wing with Vuna. Vuna will enjoy having Stone coach as Stone appreciates the energy and enthusiasm he brings to a very quiet and introverted backline at training. Personally I also think Vuna is quality.

Wicks is out with a sternum injury and Simmo will not play.

Just speculating, but I think he will roll the dice and go with Patto. I get the impression while he is not a Doctor, he strongly believes that Patto needs faith in his ability to overcome his form and confidence problems, and that means starting, and the complete confidence of the coach.

Aku may struggle. Smiths detractors can say that he held him back and so on, but the kid was football rubbish with incredible athletic ability when Smith came to the Club. He has had his hand held and recieved massive attention under Smith. Stone likes him, but plays with a straight bat, and I am not sure how Aku will handle NRL with out the soft gloves of Smith.

Certainly not this week, but I think if a centre position becomes available, we might see Pete. Stone is in his ear a bit at training, but I am not sure.

Mika will get a look if Marv does not get sorted, and if our bench props do not perform, Natusch, Tovo and Ewards may see some time.

Seriously, all of the above could not come into play. Just my observations and opinion, it could all turn out to be wrong.

I'll take a stab and say Mika is a big chance of getting more game time under Stone.

I get the impression out of the two, Stone is much more likely to throw in the best footballers regardless of age into first grade.

For that reason, surely Mika needs to be in the side ahead of Karawana?

We might see more of Mika, and a taste of Pete before the season is out.

Would have no problem with Dureau coming back into halfback if it improves the balance of our lineup - which seems to lack a game breaker off the bench ( which Rogers might be able to fill ), and a forward or 2.
