We need Parramatta Stadium capacity increased to 35k

the less games we play there the less parra stadium becomes viable. The Stadium trust also rely on signage and sponsors to keep afloat and if they are not getting coverage will pullout. Parramatta do not have the money to keep it afloat by themselves as a training venue.

I'm sure that the AFL would love for the trust to require a helping hand and would soon find the money to build a stadium to suit their needs in our backyard.

A new A-League side would help things there I think

I have heard a rumour that Cameltown will get the 40,000 seat Fifa upgrade.

No, not necessarily.

Fifa have shown a bit of flexibility in allowing a rugby internation to be played in South Africa during the world cup this year.

But from a practical point of view? Yes, the NRL would most likely to work around the WC - for atleast the first couple of weeks.

Not only will I vote for my local member, but I'll be there all day keeping the libs honest handing out

At least we have a choice here. In the old country it was Tito or death. Hang on Tito was a lefty too. ;-)

when was the last time parra soldout?
eels v panthers during our run to the semis last year was a massive crowd im not sure if it was a sellout though

about increasing capacity, its useless to even consider it without extra parking the stadium cant even handle the traffic on game day now imagine it with an extra 15,000 people!

Ridiculous idea. How many sell outs have the Eels had in the past 5 years?

What happens when the teams form dips and the regular crowd is about 8k a game.

The Stadium is rented most days and all through the summer, To NSW Soccer. The signage rights are sold over to Parramatta NRLC to manage and profit from (hence they pay to play the usage of the venue).

I'm sure that the AFL would love for the trust to require a helping hand and would soon find the money to build a stadium to suit their needs in our backyard.

The Trust has already received $5 Million toward the Southern (Ray Price) grandstand from the State Government There is still another 10 million to go, Kevin 07 hasn't seen fit to stump up the 5 Million in cash they have been asked for, and then there is finding of the other 5 Million to get it over the line.

But the big news is that if the Libs get in they will try to "Sell" the management of the stadium, maybe to O'Connell Street and if the Rovers pick Parramatta Stadium as a home ground they will have to pay Parramatta NRLC for the privilege of opening the gates.

I think parra or cambelltown will r in the running for upgrades if we get the world cup I'm pretty sure that's what they said when they announced it.

Parramatta is one of the best grounds in the NRL , its been long waiting.

Remove the sponsor signs behind the stands and extended the seating , dont forget on the days of the old hill parra held 30k

If the state or Federal governments have a spare 5 mill lying around I for one would prefer they put it towards the seating (or lying )capacity of Westmead, Auburn or Blacktown Hospital. We have a perfectly good ground at Homebush.

Id like us to drop back to 15k tbh

It was pure genuius going dropping us from 28k to 20k over the years, why do we want to go up again? lets go further down to funky town.

Imagine (john lennon) the atmoshpere at every game would be awesome as we are condensed down, particularly against canberra and nth qld and also at a-league games

Cheers

$26 million upgrade for Parramatta Stadium

This could be the final gift deposed CEO Denis Fitzgerald gives to Parramatta - a bigger and better home for the blue and gold army. The Daily Telegraph can reveal plans for a $26 million grandstand to be constructed at the southern end of Parramatta Stadium, where the Brett Kenny terrace currently sits. State Cabinet is understood to be discussing the project this week.
Fitzgerald, a Parramatta Stadium trustee, has twice travelled to Canberra lobbying the Federal Government for funds.
The State Government has already granted $6 million with the Trust hoping for another $6 million. Fitzgerald hopes that $12 million would then be matched by the Federal Government. Parramatta Stadium would pay the additional amount.
The ground currently holds 20,000 but would increase to 23,000 with a gymnasium, additional dressingrooms and corporate rooms included.

Parramatta's overwhelming support was evident during the club's emotional charge to this year's Grand Final.
A new grandstand would also make the stadium more appealing to the new western Sydney A-League franchise.
The corporate facilities would accommodate weddings, expos, dinners and trade shows.

we still would have been OK for 7 out of the 10 played there last year.

i like the idea of the corporate facilities bringing some extra coin in but its a hell of a price for only 3000 extra seats maybe when the afl monster starts lurking around they will throw us some money to fight it off

We sell out 1, maybe 2 or 3 games a year. The stadium is fine as it is.

Maybe in 15-20 years time, when we consider building a new stadium, we could think about 30k+
