Build it and they WILL come.....

Catch 22....smaller stadium equals smaller crowds...bigger stadium attracts larger crowds because everyone knows they can just rock up and watch footy..they don't have to concern themselves with booking tickets etc........

On another, but related point...Parra stadium staff need to work out a way to quickly get late arriving Friday night crowds in the gate without that ridiculously long line of folks at 7:25pm...it is the nature of people these days..leave everything until the last moment because everyone is so bleeden busy...:sarcasm:

Oh thats right, Parra will play outstanding every single week for the rest of time. Wake up to yourself

i never said they would do that but you said when they go into a form slump and get 8000 crowds regularly; not with injuries, not maybe, not what if, when hence the eyeroll i think that claim is based on your wishful thinking more than anything else

p.s. while you've got your crystal ball out can i have next week's lotto numbers?

I'd settle for an extra 5 to 7000 capacity.....it was nice to sit in crowds of 25 to 27000 back in the day .....

Its hard to get to the gates before 7:30 on a friday night for some people and their work commitments.

I think we need a bit of an upgrade but not for a while. More seating basically. With the increase in memberships, hopefully it goes to AFL and NFL levels, then a 40'000 seat home stadium might not be out of the question. Sure we should plan ahead, but there are more important things that these governments need to get out of the way.

One day Id like to see the club own the stadium. One day....

more seats is great but where the hell is everyone going to park? you've seen what traffic is like on game days at the moment can you imagine it with 40,000 people?

Well, there is the option of taking a train. At the moment, I park at Westmead station and walk to the stadium. Great walk.

I used to have the advantage of being able to part at my sisters work which is opposite the RSL club. Only problem is she moved out of the old folks place so now it would take an extra half hour drive to save 5 more minutes worth of walking. Still deciding which option i'll take

There is a real fracture between the Stadium and the eels. Expect more and more games to be at Homebush in the future unless some firm amendments are agreed upon and that includes expansion of seating.

most times people don't turn up because of fear of a sell - out, then a crowd of 18,000 is posted.

anyone who suggests we don't need a significant upgrade needs to hurry up and be shot for thinking such stupidity.

Does that fracture involve our bitter ex CEO? Isn't he on the board of the Stadium trust??

We need to be maxing out five or six games a season at the very least to get a serious upgrade to the stadium or at the very least get the state or federal givernment to put up the cash.

It isn't about suggesting we do or don't need it. It is about having the demand exceed supply on a regular basis.....

When is the contract up for renew next?

With what has gone on in the media at the moment it may be hard to come to reasonable conditions next time.

there are contracts in place that may prohibit that, and the stadium trust would agree that more seats are needed and have plans.

Plans are all well and good, but unless someone stumps up the money they're irrelevant

It may be difficult but are the Stadium Trust really going to shut the door and make it truly difficult? Who else, outside of a soccer game every now and again plus a concert around New Years, is going to use it?
