We need Parramatta Stadium capacity increased to 35k

If Parra seriously is going to grow in ticketed members and we want games to stay at Parra then the Stadium trust is going to have to pull their finger out and increase the seating Capacity of the stadium.

Seriously, 20k is totally crap. IMO, This issue is what the Parra Board need to take up with the Stadium trust as a priority. Otherwise, we could find ourselves at Homebush for often than not in the FUTURE.

20k is way too small for Parra. Some planning needs to be done now. I believe a 35k seated stadium would be perfect for Parra and for attracting future events.

The state government can waste 270 million on the so called metro which never eventuated then I am sure they could give for an upgrade.

well if we get the fifa world cup, hopefully the government will throw some money in to get it up to scratch to hold world cup matches, i think they require that the stadiums be a minimum of 40k capacity

There'll be a new state government in a years time so give Fatty O'Barrell a buzz.

Of course, he'd have to find Parramatta first.....

Pretty sure that Parra Stadium is not in the mix for WC games.

Homebush and the SFS would be the two likely candidates for that I'm afraid, but Parra might be able to be a practice venue or something.

They would need to be averaging close to 20,000 per game for at least a year or two to be seriously considered for an upgrade to that size with the SFS and ANZ so close....

which would mean, if the NRL didnt take a break during the world cup, we wouldnt be able to use the ground for NRL fixtures during that time because whomever was using it as a practice base would require it on a daily basis.

if ozzie gets his way that's all parra will be, a practice venue.

Well, if there's no money to expand it beyond 20k then that may be necessary from time to time. However I don't think we should be moving games on a whim. It has to be organised well in advance or it just ends up being a mess.

If the NRL doesn't take a break then we won't get the WC

No, not necessarily.

Fifa have shown a bit of flexibility in allowing a rugby internation to be played in South Africa during the world cup this year.

But from a practical point of view? Yes, the NRL would most likely to work around the WC - for atleast the first couple of weeks.

At least vote informal. You dirty lefty, donkey voter. :D. I remember one year voting informal when Chikarovski was there.

Not only will I vote for my local member, but I'll be there all day keeping the libs honest handing out

the less games we play there the less parra stadium becomes viable. The Stadium trust also rely on signage and sponsors to keep afloat and if they are not getting coverage will pullout. Parramatta do not have the money to keep it afloat by themselves as a training venue.

I'm sure that the AFL would love for the trust to require a helping hand and would soon find the money to build a stadium to suit their needs in our backyard.

I think its ridiculous to expect mega bucks to be put into the stadium when the main tenant (ie Parramatta Eels) struggles to get more than 12K there regularly
