Also everyone here missing what PVL is doing.

He’s putting a spotlight on the small suburban grounds so he can turn to the NSW government and say ‘give us the f**king ground money you promised so these local grounds can be brought up to standard’.
And how's he going with that?

Looking at the seating maps at the three Sydbey venues I think there isn't much difference between Allianz and Penrith when you look at what is left for the public.
And why do Melbourne members get the right to have their own seats?

Don’t people more out from the Shire (or anywhere in Sydney) when they leave home? If so, why don’t clubs have fans across Sydney? Or do people change clubs if they move from Cronulla to Bondi or Parramatta?

Here in Melbourne it is not only only our better road/transport infrastructure that allows centralised stadiums to work for AFL, it is the fact the each club’s supporters are fairly even distributed across the city. Why is this not the case in Sydney?
I think Sydney RL fans are in denial when they say centralised stadia won't work because fans are isolated in certain regions. There's just not as many active RL fans in Sydney who are committed to game day attendance. Fumbleball fans are fiercely devoted to their game in a way that RL fans are not. There's more RL teams in Sydney than the market can support.

The geography of Melbourne is different to Sydney. Melbourne CBD is centralised. Sydney CBD is in the far east of the metropolitan.

Most Melbourne AFL clubs existed in 1897 and are based closed to the CBD. Even the ones admitted later like Hawthorn, North & Footscray that came in the 1920s were already set up in a different comp and are relatively close to the CBD.

Sydney clubs are younger and set up in metropolitan regions outside the inner city where there was population growth. St George in Southern Sydney 1921, Canterbury in the Canterbury-Bankstown district 1935, Parra & Manly in the Hills District and Northern Beaches respectively 1947, Cronulla & Penrith in the Shire and outer Western Suburbs respectively in 1967. The only inner city clubs that remain in the NRL are Roosters and Rabbitohs. Those two clubs have supporter base similar to Melbourne AFL clubs, they come from all over the Sydney metropolitan, particularly Souths.

Got the email from my club about ticketed members purchasing window from 10am tomorrow. Did anyone else receive one from theirs?

If so, is it really a single generic password for all members as per the email, and not the dedicated per-member code/AAN that you normally need?

That's a good way for the NRL to even up the disparity in membership numbers....

Mine from the Roosters appears to be relatively generic. It should be noted though it does say this in the e-mail -

"A maximum of eight (8) tickets can be purchased in one transaction."

That (IIRC) has been the case for most finals matches I've been to over the last decade or so, as such its not unusual. Otherwise you'd have to get 8 separate numbers to make a purchase.

The major issue has been the Rugby Union / Rugby League divide. The posh schools play Union and those students continue to support that game. The schools won't dare play rugby league. Similar in Brisbane. Rugby League was the game set up by the riff raff who worked manual labour so they could be paid and compensated for injury. It's culture and identity.

In Melbourne, it's one game, whether you're from Toorak or Broadmeadows.

yep. NRL screwing over season ticket holders yet again.

no doubt we’ll magically see all Cat 1 tickets sold out inside of 5 mins today during the members window but magically have more become available when the general public gets a crack too

It's also that Melbourne is a flat, compact city to navigate.

Sydney is divided by rivers, bays and harbour inlets and is incredibly spread out and hard to move around quickly.

It is really an unfair comparison.

Exactly the same in Brisbane. They literally buy Pasifika boys for Rugby, and then request that they go watch the Springboks captain run at Suncorp rather than attend their year 12 exams. True story.

You'll see the odd puffer vest wearing knob at an origin and Broncos final tho.

Ticketek ticket map for the members sale for roosters rabbits game is showing only about a quarter of the stadium is going on sale at 10am.

15 from 37 in the concourse, 1 single bay in the second tier, and half of 5 bays in the third tier on the eastern (TV visible) side only.

just great

$75 for a Cat 1 in Bay 32
$40 for a Supporter ticket in Bay 31
The whole thing makes no sense

Yeah don't worry about that. If those sell out immediately they will release more for members. They might only save 1-2,000 for general public. If the demand is super high they will reduce the acceptance time reserved for sponsors and promotions too, so you will have a few opportunities to grab tickets.

yes but it also then just becomes a game of Russian roulette to get a decent seat.

I don’t want to be the unlucky merkin left buying the first 5 rows after 10 mins to then have someone else get better seats after
