EELS ON KIMMORLEY WATCH

WATCH for Parramatta to make a play for Brett Kimmorley if Canterbury set him free. There is no doubt the Bulldogs had Johnathan Thurston on their wish list - a meeting with his manager on Wednesday night confirmed that. The Dogs have been keen to give ''Noddy'' another year so they can blood another half under his guidance, although the inquiries about Thurston indicate they think they can do better than Kimmorley. The Dogs were keen to talk dollars to Thurston, but his manager Sam Ayoub stopped them in their tracks. ''We are not trying to get clubs to make offers to us to try and leverage this deal,'' Ayoub said. ''There has been interest from clubs to put proposals to us, but unless something changes in a hurry, this is going to be a matter between the Cowboys and French rugby. I don't want clubs to feel like we are using them to boost Johnathan's price. To say that we put him out of the Bulldogs' price range is wrong … we are not looking for a concrete offer at this point. If that changes in the near future I will go back to the clubs who have shown interest.'' So far, the Bulldogs have had at least three conversations with Kimmorley and a decision about his future is likely to be made around round nine. Kimmorley has a media career in front of him and would have potential as a coach, but that is all ahead of him. He could find a new home at the Eels, who are looking for a steady head in the halves who could teach Daniel Mortimer some more tricks.

POORE PINING FOR DRAGONS?

THE rumour mill has been running hot with the story that Justin Poore is unhappy at the Eels and has been pining for the Dragons. There has even been talk that Poore tried to back out on his deal with the Eels. ''Yes, I've heard that and I've investigated it,'' Eels boss Paul Osborne said. ''People have told me that Justin isn't happy so I fronted him and he's told me he is fine. I've got to go on his word and I believe him. I'm sure that he is feeling the pressure being the big off-season signing, and the way we are going - well, no one is happy. He is also adapting to a very different style of play at the Eels. It's something I'm aware of and I'll keep an eye on it.''

let him go. he plays like he wants out

Justin just needs time to adjust with our type of football.
When he was at the dragons he hardly ever passed the ball or ever played an exciting brand of football like we do. Give him time hopefully he will adjust soon.

But it does seem to me like he isn't really trying. Which tells me he wants out. Let him go I say.

Oh and on Kimmorley I really hope we aren't looking at signing him, he has had his best years behind him and isn't getting any younger. Plus didn't he say if he didn't play for bulldogs he would retire?

The only problem for Poore is the dragons wont fit him in their Cap if he wants to go back now... My money is he ends up in Melbourne...

Noddy - That would be the biggest backward step of our lives !!!! Why dont we wheel in Big bear O' Reilly while we are there ?????

Poore - I have personally heard the same thing. My information is that Poore has approached the eels and has sounded out a release and will again ask for a release from the club at seasons end, no matter what Ozzie is saying - I reckno if the bloke is unhappy at seasons end , let him go (in our favour money wise)

Let him go now.. Or Have it all figured out now that he will leave at the end of the season.. If they wait till end of season we lose him and a chance to snare a replacement for him or keep players like INU Keating Grothe...

I wouldn't say no to Noddy...on a one year JT type deal to mentor Morts and (hopefully) KK or even better Hokko (wishful thinking) he would pay for himself three times over. Anything else though and it's a huge no.

Poore will come good, all this media rubbish will just fuel him IMO.

Wah! Robson sucks!
Wah! Mortimer sucks!
Wah! Keating sucks!

Yet you wouldn't even contemplate the notion of signing a champion halfback in Kimmorley...:?

He'd barely get a gig at the Dragons if he went back.

They aren't exactly short on front rowers.

you see, I probably would of signed him for this season but not next, I think we're pushing the envelope by flirting for his services, he'd be about 2 to 3 years older than JT was in 01 and I think it would be too risky.

BK may not be the player he was a few years ago, but god damn he's one heck of a competitor who will never ever give up.

As for Poore? if he wants to go, then get it sorted now so we can have the cash available quickly, but I wouldn't release him immidiately, i would definitely keep him until the end of the year.

I don't believe a word of the Poore thing. We would not release him nor would he be so unprofessional as to sound out a release after 4/5 games. FFS what utter rot.

Noddy would not come cheap (like JT was). He is a very good player but I've never seen Kimmorley try assist off a pass. Great kicking game though. If you could get him for a reasonable dollar (he won't go to ESL because he's got commitments with Fox & 2UE) then I'd contemplate it.

Neither do I, this is a regurgitated article and I read one recently where he denied wanting to go back to the Dragqueens

we should send poore to england in a trade for shane tronc

Hey that's a brilliant idea...except S. Tronc got home sick too last time he played in Sydney for the Dogs, started crying all the time and then went running back home to QLD.
