yeah I could definitely see fans being disgruntled with the sport after Super League and becoming more active supporting other sports. Pretty naive to think otherwise.

That certainly doesn't account for all the Swans fans though, especially today.

The problem with this argument or arguments is that people don’t follow something they don’t like.

Even if they abandoned the game during Super League they didn’t just go over and choose to watch fumbleball through gritted teeth. It doesn’t make sense.

It is a strange argument to make in any case. It’s implying that there is no market for League teams in AFL areas or vice versa.

Should’ve merged nswrl and brl (not sure how many teams) then added regional teams and Melbourne and the warriors

mergers don’t work in Sydney

Balmain could’ve made it as a stand alone but their area is kind of covered by the dogs anyway

without the strength of Sydney the nrl wouldn’t last five minutes
NRL needs Sydney of course, but 10 mouths to feed is going to mean the weakest die slowly. Not feasible. Better to have 2-4 all super strong. Also it is contrary to expansion goals. Sydney teams have to be the cost of expansion. Also becuase population Australia 20m and 4 football codes hinders all.

I also like your idea of a joint NSWRL/BRL as a national comp and adding new teams. That, EPL system or the four new clubs idea, all better than merging clubs

you're right, so many of those fans who abandoned their League team either had a casual interest in AFL already or were at worst apathetic towards AFL

Big capital cities having two teams is ideal. Iron sharpening iron in terms of growth.

Lowering another Sydney club and adding another Brisbane club is probably better (demerging and merging with Easts Tigers).

Rebranding as Macarthur Tigers or Campbelltown Tigers is better than having an Ashfield-Balmain represnetation.

Demerging and having Easts/Balmain Tigers and a Campbelltown Magpies is problematic too. Adding yet another team to the comp, now 18, and still have to find a way to have Perth, NZ-2, Adelaide, Central QLD, Sunshine Coast, maybe Central Coast too.

Ugh, everything so messy
In other words we are going from one shit wests tigers team, into 2 shit wests magpies, and east tigers teams

Pretty sad indictment on Sydney league fans, that people believe that a hard core supporter went to watch one game of AFL and was hooked for thirty years.

Also f**king LOL at @Wb1234 outing himself as a Swans fan, after all the attacks on others for being AFL fans.

Projection?

You watched AFL for a year, and yet you're screeching at any f**ker that they are "an AFL fan!!" if they are even remotely critical of RL.
If your club had been cut instead of my club would you still be a rugby league fan ?

the answer is no because you aren’t a rugby league fan just a cowboys fan as you opposing cairns ha shown

you aren’t interested in what’s good for league just your club

indeed it would’ve been better for the crushers to stay and cowboys to get booted but ofc you wouldn’t have supported that lol

I lost my team

I watched a good year of the swans on tv

I was sick of the bs of super league and what Murdoch did to the game and how no politician stood up to him

you underestimate the passion of south’s and norths fans imo
A closet afl fan, should Have known lol

Completely irrelevant to the topic.

You've bleated for months that anyone who doesn't share your view is an AFL fan, even when it's not even being discussed.

And yet, you're actually an AFL fan who has watched whole seasons of the sport supporting a team.

That’s the thing. By time I got here in 99 reds were gone and I knew thered be no team to follow here for a long time. Some new friends were eagles fans so we went to about 3 eagles games. despite wanting a team I could follow in my new city I found the game to be dreadful To watch after the skill and toughness of rugby league. Decided better to not be able to passionately follow a local club than try and watch that drabness. I dont get rl fans that would switch codes because of SL.

You're a Swannies fan, who watches whole seasons of AFL.

You're the biggest hypocrite on the whole forum.

But we already knew that.
Why don’t you answer the question ?

id your club got kicked out from the nrl would you have followed another nrl club and the nrl ?

how many nrl games have you attended ?
