got to love a hypothetical! Sure if the club sits last for 5 years they're going to be in strife. But same as other clubs, difference is if they dont then they could be one of the biggest clubs in the comp. Storm sit in top 3 of most metrics and are one of the most profitable clubs in the comp. But yeh if they sat bottom for a few years theyd be less so, as would every club.

And once again the NRl will expect to see a realistic business case from any new bid that gives them a level of comfort around viability.

Lol, u trolling. Everything you write is fantasy. If clubs relies on game day & sponsorship then they'll go under if they have a losing season.
This is why dolphins were selected & tigers will be 18th

Not with a $17mill NRL grant they wont. Its like you dont understand where the game is at. Cowboy's have been pretty poor on the field for most years, in a regional city, look at their FC revenue.
With only $12mill revenue Tigers are now profitable and I bet the LC isnt putting much in.

Just a dose of reality of what clubs are bringing in and are profitable on in 2022. Dockers earn $46mill a year from FC operations alone, NRL Perth team only needs to earn a third of that to be profitable.
Is that so? And this has what to do with the Dolphins?

How many teams do you need/want though? We have to realise that there is only a limited amount of teams that you can realistically have
Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, Central QLD and possibly Cairns would be max possible for QLD.

But i also support the idea of Perth, Adelaide, NZ2, and maybe Darwin one day

Not saying they should all get in, or in any soon timefrane, just ideal target areas. Still require any bid to be a good feasible bid. You don't bring in any club unless it has a solid business proposal, etc.

Thats the point, for all our waffle on here the ARLC will decide where it wants the next club located then look at the business cases put forward from that area by any bid interested. It makes zero difference what we think on here lol.

Mmm I don’t think Central QLD and Cairns is big enough really - both of those areas are probably best to be split amongst current teams.

Ipswich/Western Brisbane would be fine for another side in say 10 or 15 years. Sunshine Coast maybe down the line.

In essence though, considering the small population of this country and NZ you shouldn’t be really going for more than 20

Central QLD is even more cooked than Cairns.

It just seems like a bunch of Sydney elites who have no f**king idea what the size and economies of these QLD towns are.
Central QLD would struggle to attract players. No professional NRL player wants to live in f**king Rockhampton... Mackay is slightly better cause its actually on the coast but its still smaller with much less to do than Townsville or Cairns.

Yep, Mackay is less than 80k population.

These areas (CQ) just aren't growth corridors either, they often go backwards in population and average less than 1% over the last decade or so.

They aren't serviced by major airports or have anything like the corporates needed to support an fulltime team.

The Cowboys generate around twice as much revenue from football operations than the Tigers, Bulldogs and Sharks. The biggest drawing point is the Cowboys are able to do this despite a) not being very successful on the field in recent years and b) based out of a small regional city that's further away from Brisbane than Sydney is. If it's financial stability that the ARLC values most then they've got it with the Cowboys.

In otherwords team 18=== cowboys v2.0 =aka Cairns

I didn't mean to say CQ and Cairns anytime soon, just that ultimately a max QLD club to aim for would be 8.

Ipswich and SC would be next most likely from QLD, then you have Perth and NZ2 to try to get in.

Whatever order in for those four regions...that alone would be like 20+ years from now.

Adelaide, maybe Central Coast, Darwin, CQ, Cairns...all just pipeline regions....each in their own time, strength of bid, demand, logistics, amenities, transport, stadiums, corporate funding, etc, are able to be met.

A standard required to enter the NRL, for the good of the club itself too so that it doesn't go bankrupt.
