Theyre gonna change their jersey every year arent they? Ugh. A work friend of mine spends hundreds upon hundreds on Dolphins merch, he's gonna go broke the way they change every year. Wish theyd just wear heritage full time and build a long tradition of a single iconic jersey.

Overall outperformed vs expectations

but given their start a bit disappointing they easily could’ve made the finals with a few hard ref calls

Milford is an anchor needs to go

halves were ok

hammer should be fullback Wayne stuffed up there
on par for what I predicted (12th or 13th finish was my prediction). They have beat some teams I didnt expect them to beat and stayed competitive in every game so big plusses there. They are still a few decent players short of the 8, even with Waynes genius coaching.

They should stick with red with gold stripes or design features. That should be the brand colour scheme they build.

Also, that color scheme hurts Perth, unless they really are taking on the Jets colors
This could end up having a whole domino effect.

Dolphins use black for the alternate/away. Norths get miffed. ("Hey, red and black was OUR thing! We were even gonna add a little gold for Perth...")

Perth allies with the Jets (blue and white) but adds orange to the mix to distinguish from the other NRL teams that use blue - especially Bulldogs.

Next move, Brisbane Easts Tigers - who have to figure out a brand that's distinct from all of the others.

Wouldnt be adverse to using a variation on old western reds kit tbh. Or we could use a reverse psychology and go with Dolphin grey lol

Already taken by scorchers

Yellow and Red.

PNG if they get in should probably use different colours anyway to differentiate them from the National team and also the PNG Hunters and Port Moresby Vipers who would play in the same city both using Yellow, Red & Black. Switch it up.

Well, Perth could always go for orange as a main colour... how about orange with blue & white trim?
I reckon Newcastle should change their red to orange, and stick with that mining colour combo, looked great last sunday, it really popped out there..
Orange, Blue, Silver...

Gold/Orange, light blue, maroon really lean into those island colors

Brisbane Tigers won't be impressed.
Well, that's *potentially* the domino effect that the Dolphins have set in motion.

The move by the Dolphins to a predominantly red & black alternate will probably annoy Norths - especially since the "Perth Bears" concept may have seen a red & black & (a little) gold jersey.

Then there's the West Coast Pirates bid itself, who were looking to use red, gold & black - do they press on with a darker shade of gold, or something like a butter-yellow added to red & black, or totally change tack?

I think the Black alternate is a shrewd move by the Dolphins, steering them away from red & white that's Dragons territory in the NRL, and into their own space.

Sure red & white is their Queensland Cup identity, but as a distinction from that - and from existing NRL teams, going dark with mostly red & black for their alternate makes sense to me. Besides, we have a lot of teams that use white alternates, good to see some teams use a dark alternate.. especially if their primary jersey isn't dark.
