Having chosen redcliffe that was what it should have been all along with all games at Suncorp. Smacks of appeasing Broncos by not calling them that and having them play in Brisbane only part time.
If you look at it a different way, the NRL is just trying to spread it's teams around SEQ rather than just putting a copy paste of the Broncos smack bang in the middle of Brisbane, that approach doesn't offer anything new or a point of difference.
You see it as 'appeasing the Broncos', the NRL sees it as using a franchise to represent a slightly different corner of the same region the Broncos are in. It is smart not to have them sitting on top of each other. The NRL is lucky to have a behemoth of a club in the North that was NRL ready.
Next up, get the Western corridor a team and we've got an awesome spread of teams here alongside Broncos (city), Dolphins (North) and Gold Coast (south). That will set QLD up forever at NRL level without oversaturating. Eventually I'd imagine Dolphins and Western Firehawk-Jets will have their own 25-30k boutique stadium but play the big QLD derby matches at Suncorp which is the perfect balance.
