I think the Knights are in real trouble. A coach under pressure and low on confidence, pushing Ponga into the halves could either spark a revival or completely backfire. He could fail to fire there or get injured. The team as a whole were struggling big time, the Siafiti boys have peaked also..
I tip the Knights for the spoon.
Maybe Kalyn asks for a release...😳
I hope the Knights do get the spoon. It'll serve them right for raiding the Cowboys and being a protected species in 1988. The Hunter hasn't produced many decent players over the last 30 years.

12th-13th is my prediction. But it’s a massive unknown. Hopefully they can overcome the adversities put in their way and be a major success from day one. It will speed up the confidence in admitting team 18.
I think that's about right. 12th to 13th and that's probably a successful season as their first.

I think Dragons, Titans, Knights and Warriors are all in the mix....

I can see the Dolphins starting the year strong but will fade deeper into the season
12th would be a pass for the dolphins

their forward pack is good if they play like the dragons played in 2009 and defend like crazy you never know and they could do better

broncos done them no favours with Reece Walsh and the kid they released to the bulldogs

but they will have loads of cap space next year

they have the potential to maybe be a genuine rival to the broncos and that would be massive

Yeh it’s on par with most other newy admitted clubs Over the years. The optimism is by year three to see them in finals. That would be a big step in nrls confidence to look at team 18. If they sit around the bottom 4 for three years, well less so.

most recently admitted first year positions
1988 knights 14/16
1995 Auckland 10/20
1995 reds 11/20
1995 crushers 16/20
1995 cowboys 20/20
1997 rams 9/10
1998 Storm 3/20
2007 titans 12/16

5 teams finished in the bottom 4
2 teams finished mid table
1 team finished top 4

Cough cough, the 8th immortal cough, cough
The greatest player to lace on a boot

took on all of Queensland’s so called best players in 2005 and schooled them in greatness

I remember the opening of Suncorp when there were like 1k newy fans watching as Joey made sure the broncos first game at home was defeat

took a while to get over that one but when I re-watched the game we still had chances to win it which we didn't take and The Roosters took their chances.
Stupid Bateman killed that side because his manager is as Moses told him he could get more

all your pommie imports were killing it and they’ve all gone bad now elsewhere

Well yeah, but it wasn't just gifted to them day dot, been in the competition for over 66 years, only after their first 24 years did they make a GF then win a comp year after, then the 2nd 12 years after that, then nothing until now back2back, all with no concessions,
All teams have had to go thru any of that, (except the merger teams, wests, dragons, eagles, but they weren't start up expansions...)

Your logic that the NRL team needs to win a GF or make finals 1st year to be relevant is useless, they just need to not be perennial wooden spooners over the next 3-5years, which history showed that most expansions were either 2nd last or last in this comp...

..so nothing is stopping Newcastle Knights or Auckland Warriors from being a similar set up as Penrith, most teams are trying to copy the format of the acedemy style setups, that the panthers copyied from the bronx, any club can invest in junior development and do what the Panthers have done, they are just too impatient to stick at it for 5-10 years, like Penrith did..
It used to take new Sydney clubs 30 plus years to win their first title

their first decade used to be one of getting belted

with the population growth penrith and parra will end up the biggest Sydney clubs by a long way followed by south’s

Makes no difference, new clubs that started in the top flight have aleays had to play catch up, not sure why anyone thinks a new team coming last is disastrous, its always happened (barr the storm)

Let's hope they don't try to copy the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks by calling themselves Redcliffe-Moreton Bay Dolphins.

A few years back the Seagulls called their BRL club the Wynnum Manly Redland City Seagulls.
I could live with that actually. Everyone would shorten to Redcliffe Dolphins anyway. I don't follow mascots.

So whats the difference between parramatta or redcliffe or manly-warringah, all clubs have been around since 1947... its just the media propping up parra and manly in the premier league over redcliffe in the brl/qrl, has absolutely no difference tho to Collingwood as a brand... its all branding has nothing to do with geography.. its why souths are doing well playing at homebush, even tho they are based in redfern
Agree 100%.
