Here is a little story for the pretend expansionists. 13 years ago I was an active nrl official. I met every major player at the admin level. Grant, Smith etc you name it I met them. I liked Smith. Why? Because Smith could clearly see everything wrong with the game and asked questions.
Here are some questions smith asked.
1. Why isn’t touch football part of the nrl’s stable?
2. Why is there a nsw country rugby league separate to the nswrl?
3. Why aren’t we on television on Saturday nights?
4. Why aren’t we pushing ourselves in new markets?
5. Why are we satisfied with a limited game?

I heard him ask these questions because I was there. He then took on news limited about tv rights and he was a dead duck.
The NSW knives came out and he was gone. He was put in the job to do exactly what he tried to do. All of us in the expansion states had one year of excitement and then he was gone because when it mattered the worlds toughest game was once again let down by its chicken hearted administrators.
Here in little old Tassie we were getting somewhere pushing the game. Working our butts off, getting media profile, growing player numbers and then. Bang. Dead.
Our mates in the NT had a debt hanging over their heads from some corrupt official 5 years earlier who had left in disgrace. So guess what? Nswrl officials demanded the new admin lose funding until the debt was repaid. it killed the game up there for years.
We were called the ‘affiliated states’ whatever that means. Managed by a team of two people with a budget of 3 million dollars to run the game in 4 states and a territory. Tassie had a budget of $20000 to run the comp and develop the game.
To our credit in 2012 the Melbourne Storm came to hobart and played the broncos in a trial. The official crowd was 12000. The real crowd was over 18000. Our grand final was played at 10 am and officials advised me over 3500 were already there for the game as a result of the hard work we’d put in promoting our comp over 4 years previously.
Best day of my life. We had an opening . A chance. Smith was rolled and we all died with him. Don’t tell me the game has no future in Perth. It had a chance in Tassie ffs. We all failed. Bus

Yeh it’s on par with most other newy admitted clubs Over the years. The optimism is by year three to see them in finals. That would be a big step in nrls confidence to look at team 18. If they sit around the bottom 4 for three years, well less so.

most recently admitted first year positions
1988 knights 14/16
1995 Auckland 10/20
1995 reds 11/20
1995 crushers 16/20
1995 cowboys 20/20
1997 rams 9/10
1998 Storm 3/20
2007 titans 12/16

5 teams finished in the bottom 4
2 teams finished mid table
1 team finished top 4
No mention of the other Gold coast Tweed, Broncos teams

From that opening trial game and then the preseason game vs Cowboys, this team looks like it is going to be a hard hitting and mostly capable defensive team, as per Bennett coached teams. Very impressed with their level of hitting and they did damn well with 30% possession only in very humid Cairns climate to keep the Cowboys score so low, the amount of "red zone" defense they had to do. Shame about the last second try tho to tie the game :p

It was heartening. Roosters will probably still open us up in Round 1 though.

Yeah they probably will, ive tipped the dolphins to scrap into the finals this year, unbelievable, but looking at the sub standard rival teams their draw has offered they'll make it, if their top squad, plays like those junior squad did last sunday
Beatable wins.. titans x2, broncos x2, knights x2, bulldogs, tigers, dragons, manly, eels, warriors x2, plus 3 byes

Losses, storm, roosters x2, panthers, sharks, souths, raiders x2, cowboys x2

Dolphins should finish 12 th or 13th

teams they should finish above are

tigers knights titans and prob dragons

could be even higher but injuries can kill them.

Injuries can kill everyone, see roosters, see manly, see storm...
Parra are going to slip down the ladder, so to the sea eagles, the dogs are still gelling, but theyll be on the upwards swing, warriors too with te mare martin, steering the ship... also very smart coach there...
That leaves 2 broncos games, that they'll be up for
All are winnable

Other clubs have better depth

Fumbleball membership numbers are rubbery. They have pet memberships and other crap to help boost their numbers.
