If reserve grade happens it will be irrelevant as Redcliffe Dolphins will no longer play in QRL top tier.Alternatively the QRL side could be renamed.

There is no division below that these sides could justifiably play in.NRls push for a true reserve grade will see a number of NSWRL and QRL clubs go under or drop down divisions. Like Ive been saying to MugaB unless you have pokies or NRl club funding its unviable to run a team in the second tier.
Total bs I don’t believe itInteresting little snippet on choice of name. QRL wont allow an NRL club name in Qlnd cup. Also NRL requirement for, presumably just QLnd clubs, to be affiliated with more than one Qlnd cup club. They wanted Sunshine Coast and ended up with CQ after Falcons extended with Storm.
“We weren’t allowed to be called Redcliffe or we wouldn’t be allowed to play in the Queensland Cup,” Reader said. “[NRL clubs] must have multiple affiliates in the QRL competition, so we have got Redcliffe and the Capras.
Why 75 years of history sets Dolphins apart from other expansion teams
If the NRL had promotion for clubs outside the Telstra Premiership, the Dolphins would be the model.www.nrl.com
On one hand you could say it'd be a shame but then if their primary role is as a reserve grade for NRl then you could argue its no loss. I'm not sure how well supported these clusb are locally? There is no division below that these sides could justifiably play in.
Cairns couldn't just start playing in the CDRL, similarly with Mackay and their local comp. Particularly as now, these sides will solely be made up of players from the clubs in these comps.
It would mean the end of these sides.

I'd love to see a ARLC funded semi pro second tier in two conferences across NSW and Qlnd with some clubs from other states/countries involved to fill a big void that is coming if reserve grade happens. Could be a shorter main season that includes a cross conference finals and with a knockout challenge cup which could include some NZ and Digicell cup teams. Maybe 10 teams per conference? More focus on regional NSW sides in that conference.
Simplistic as ever.National reserve grade
the qrl and nswrl can ead
That date of that link is unclear.
We know for a fact that no NRL squad members are being allocated to Mackay or Cairns.
Hopefully this means the Cowboys will still fund these sides, as they will very shortly not exist otherwise.
Capras have mostly been a bottom club for nearly a decade. A sign when clubs arent being boosted by nrl squad playersNot all club affiliations involve NRL contracted players being allocated to the Queensland Cup team. The Capras have been affiliated with the Cowboys and Broncos over the years, but I don't recall them sending players to Rockhampton.
I thought it was very strange that they didn't just carry the Redcliffe brand into the NRL, especially considering that everything they said on the subject early on during their bid suggested that was their intention.Interesting little snippet on choice of name. They can set up another comp for the rest / dregsSimplistic as ever.
What about development pathways in non NRL based regions? Or do we just give up on them like NSWRL has largely done with regional NSW over the years?
What about decent players that wont make NRL squads, should they just give up the game?
What about fans in areas with no NRL clubs, should they just give up the opportunity to watch live games and have a local club at a higher level to follow?
Are you advocating NRL then park footy and nothing in between?
They can set up another comp for the rest / dregs
if you aren’t nrl then you serve little purpose as just another mouth to feed
national reserve grade is for the players who miss out on nrl you numpty
Its taken this long for you to realise? You're an ignorant fool
Thats coz cowboys have tabcorp now, they are flush... with pokie dens... dont need these other junior systems when you can just buy buy buyThat doesn't make sense, given the Cowboys have cut all ties with Cairns and Mackay and are only aligned with Townsville.

That's right. It's not good for the game in Cairns and Mackay.
@Canard is going to learn that sucking up to the Sydney NRL clubs won't stop them from taking high quality semi-professional players away from the Northern Pride and Mackay Cutters. He'll say it has nothing to do with them because the Cowboys are the affiliate NRL club, but that overlooks the fact that the reserve grade concept was drafted by the Sydney NRL clubs a few years ago. Cowboys are doing what they need to do to prepare their juniors for NRL. The Sydney clubs have used this model for years and it's worked nicely for them. What happens in Sydney has an impact on rugby league all around the country because the nine Sydney NRL clubs hold the balance of power.
How does he know that, do clubs share all their financial details with each other? Sounds like a wb statement of ‘fact’ lol
How good is that ?
