You're dead wrong mate, because that is exactly what used to happen. Leagues clubs were created to support the football team, that's why football club membership was never really pushed until 8-9 years ago.
Used to being the operative word! Now they boost 100k "members' who are only members so they can get in to chuck their money away on the pokies and get a cheap feed and drink. the % of LC members who are actual members of the FC would be pretty small at every club wouldnt it?

Also if youre wanting to enter the league's club, and you live in the area, you have to get membership otherwise another local can sign you in.. so it was always wise to get membership when youre near the local leagues club... but most clubs function that way... i just remember how many different clubs I've signed up for, after moving suburbs in and around sydney for the past 20 years... doesn't mean i care about the parra eels

What is the Aboriginal name for Moreton Bay?

Did they have one?

Does Redcliffe have a different tribe to the river city of Brisbane?

To that, at least at Saints, the Football Club membership was held close to the chest and was not available to the general public.
It was football club for the chosen, leagues club for the masses, season tickets for those that wanted them.

True now, but in the olden days we did - at least in a larger degree than now.
Originally you joined to support the team and getting a beer and feed was part of it. Now you join to gamble and get a schnitty and drink.

Also when I was a kid, and before that, a percentage of people would change teams when they moved house.

Now that never happens really, in my experience, say moving from Leichhardt to Emu Plains in my generation, the Dad would be a Tiger and mostly the kids would be but some of that and the next gen would be Panthers.
In your day they probably used an abacus instead of a calculator, too.

Hmm, you only ever needed to sign up to one Leagues club, one RSL club and one ex-servos club. That meant you could get into any from them on in. You only joined up for that club if they had some special food/drink deals. Which they always do that makes that $5 joining fee value for money.

Anyway. Be interesting to see what happens with Melb once the Dolphins sign Munster and the Cheese as their first 2 players (And a nibble at Ponga).

Love that the mascots for all of the Queensland teams are from NFL clubs, and virtually all are from redneck states in America. Makes perfect sense

Colorado (Broncos) isn't a redneck state and the Raiders used to be from California which is one of the least redneck states.

As for QLD it's only regional that is conservative. Brisbane, Sunshine and Gold Coast are mostly left leaning, labour voters.

I'd bring em in for 2022. They could get a lot of their new players in mid season as is the norm now.

Redcliffe threatened the GC bid with legal action if they used the name hence why they just submitted and went with Titans instead. I guess Redcliffe have always had aspirations on entering the NRL and "own" the dolphins brand for RL in SEQ.
I wonder how it would have played out in court IF the GC bid had defended their choice of Dolphin for team name.

Presumably, the NRL would have been asked then if they ever would entertain the prospect of adding Redcliffe to the top tier...

I'd think they would have had a good case, its very hard to justify taking another companies TM brand when your setting up in the same industry in the same state, even if it is at different size/level.
