We're Going Ok

Longer term we need wins but I'm with you.

For sure. Next year there will more of an expectation to win games. Particularly the type of game we lost to Saints. After the last couple of years, and the start of this year (with the exception of the storm game) of meagre efforts where they've basically phoned it in, I'm surprised and rapt with the commitment. I thought it might have been gone for good.

It just says to me, it was always the players efforts, not the coaching staff.

Who knows. I reckon Hastings has made a massive difference but the whole team just looks better. I'll jinx us and say we've had some really good contributions from Musgrove. He is playing like a quality prop. He has been a dud since we bought him but he is quality now.

I can see improvement next season as well. Our signings appear to have improved.

I read an article on Hastings the other day and he was so positive about the club and Madge.

Without meaning to be a dick was it just about moving Brooks from the 7 role ?

Players are there to play and are well paid, so don’t play if you can’t be bothered?

If a player is earning:
$800k per season, that is $15,384 per week
$500k is $9,615
$300k is $5,769
$200k is $3,846

A council labourer probably about $1,000 per week plus a footy game about $500-$1000 per game?

f**k ‘em, they can decide what they want to do?
Put in or f**k off.
Most seem to have chosen to put in lately which is all you can ask.

Yes...seems clear now that if Brooks had come into grade as a 6 he would have made it a long time ago....I also believe and did say a long time ago that if he started out and developed as a 9 he may well have played SOO by now ( insert laughter here)

We are going worse than I thought we’d go this year.
Having said that, you can’t stick the boot in when they are clearly having a go and are missing half a team.

I just want to see what we look like at full strength. I'm hoping the football gods are shitting on us this season to give us good fortune next year.

Definitely looking more resilient in defence however I worry that our attacking structures are pretty poor and not sure that will change even with players coming back.

We've blown at least two games v Storm & Titans, and left two good opportunities go begging v Warriors & Dragons. We defended well in these games, but just didn't create enough with the footy in hand.

At the start of the year all I really hoped for was the team to show up week in week out with a better attitude, and I guess we have got that. If Madge can get the attack right, then maybe I'll start dreaming of making the 8.

Great post Vic. You have summed it up well. Commitment and a desire to win is the absolute main ingredient required in a footy team that WANTS to be successful. Thats why the Storm are so good. They at times sign under preforming players from other clubs and over a short period instill this commitment and winning mentality. Thrown in with a bit of class from a 2-3 class players means you have the fundamental blue print to win more footy games then you lose. I am hoping and praying this is the path the West Tigers are heading down. Make no mistake....the rest of this season is critically important. To regress would be a disaster.
