We'll be lucky to see a team before 2019 the way things are going. Sadly we are still run by TV execs rather than for the good of the game. When Ch9 decided it didn't want another FTA game then expansion was pretty much sunk. One day we may get a leadership group running the game that make decisions for the good of the game, not for the good of a TV company. You can but hope!

I'm hoping for the day the NRL gives TV execs and especially Channel 9 the big FU and it happens before the next tv deal. Hopefully something good comes from the Internet deal and we get an nrl.tv deal because the fact Perth aren't in this comp is bullshit, the same goes for the Bears ad it's the TV deal that screwed over these fans

I think the fact that that the Reds and Rams were not helped to survive the Superleague war is the biggest mistake in Australian RL history and the second biggest mistake was forcing the Bears to throw Manly a bone and merge with them and then letting Manly screw the Bears. The fact that Perth and the Bears have not been readmitted is just a slap in the face of there fans and the greater Rugby League community.

You dont know the accurate story,both clubs were under major financial stress,i do not know why the bears were financially stressed but with us Arko made us fight off super league with our own money,we paid more during that war than ANY OTHER CLUB

The newly formed NRL came out with some bullshit criterion which Manly Warringah Sea Eagles passed and were as such granted an NRL LICENSE

Manly then threw the bears a lifeline,out of the need to stay alive as much as help our older brother,there was always tension as they didnt want the eagle but they wanted the phoenix,this happily was overridden by the LICENSE HOLDERS MANLY,Then when manly realised that the bears were trying to sink them from within MANLY decided to cut out the cancerous tumour that was the NORTH SYDNEY FOOTBALL CLUB from our body

This happened sometime early in 2002 and we continued on as the NORTHERN eagles however in reality we were once again the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles and in 2003 we came back out at the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles to the familiar waves of hatred from everyone

In the early 2000s however the hatred for manly was replaced by pity,however the 2006-09 period seen us become hated once again,having your club pityed by the vast unwashed masses is so much worse than being hated,hatred in rugby league is a sign of respect and jealousy

Everyone knows why the Bears were under financial stress because they were doing the right thing and trying to relocate to the Central Coast, all there income was going straight into the stadium they were building now known as Bluetongue and developing a new supporters base on the Central Coast.

Which is why Manly did not meet the criteria to hold an NRL license by themselves. Now this is were the real shame lies for the NRL, at the time they knew that the Bears would meet there criteria if they were not in the middle of relocating to the Central Coast and once they had relocated the and things had settled down that they would more then meet there criteria, but seeing that Manly was going down the gurgler (and the fact that they did not want to see one Sydney team die) they used the Bears financial state as the reason to force them to merge with the Manly, even though as I stated before they knew the Bears where not in any real danger of going bankrupt. Thus with there hearts in the right place the NRL caused the demise of the Bears.

This we partly agree on. I think it was completely necessary to have some sort of criterion for new clubs (that's just good business), but the criteria they had in place to hold a NRL license killed some teams that could defiantly have survived the super league war with good management (such as the Magpies) and some teams that with some financial help similar to what the Storm get from News and also some good management could have maybe survived the war (such as the Reds, Rams and Steelers).

I can not/should not comment on what happened at the Northern Eagles because I do not truly know, but I will say this as an outsider. It looks to me like both party were trying to screw the other one but the Bears were unsuccessful and Manly were not hence Manly still being in the NRL and not the Bears. As an after thought I wonder whether everybody would hate the Bears if it was them who were successful in screwing Manly and not the other way around.

Early next year I would imagine. Agree I would have preferred a home jersey of Scarlett red with gold and black trim and an away one of Black. They will be a bit warm for the fans sitting in the sun!
