The eventual plan is the corners will be filled in and the roof line will run all the way around, that will be phase 2 (if it ever happens!) which includes a new West stand and the replacment for the shed with a grandstand (mistake imo). Think they were talking about $160mill for that stage. For the money they will spend $300mill+ they could have built a new stadium at Burswood next to the new AFL one and created an amazing sporting precinct. Stupid Govt!
The final capacity of nib will be around the 25,000 mark when phase 2 is done, 20,5oo when this stage is finished in March (best get your Sth's tickets quick as that game will sell out for sure)

Our government (our city for that matter ) is pretty thick in general. Only we could build a domed rectangular stadium back in the 80's and never once use it for soccer, league or rugby.:roll:

Apparently the reds did look at playing in burswood dome but getting a grass pitch in there proved too difficult..

I seriously don't know why we didn't just get rid of the roof years ago and build more stands into it.

I would love to see the Pirates get into the NRL for a number of reasons, but a big f**k off pirate ship ala the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is by far my #1 reason.

I'm not the biggest fan of the colours working together and the design is poor as well. It's a eyesore.
