Good stuff. Pity they didn't get a mention in the article or on the poster.

From what I have heard both the Eagles & Dockers have been quite supportive.

In the same way that Searle welcomed the Suns to the GC? I just find it hard to believe that they'd welcome a club from their biggest competitor, no matter if it's an AFL town.

The WA Reds SG Ball squad took to the field today in a hotly contested intra club trial. With the season around the corner plyers were pushing hard to catch the coaches eye and make the starting 17. With more beef up front and plenty of skill on show it looks like the 2011 season will be another succesful step forward for Jnr RL in WA.

Star Punts on WA

Recently retired RL star Brett Kimmorley says a Perth rugby league team has the potential to follow the Melbourne Storm to become a huge start-up success.
Perth is the overwhelming favourite to defeat Central Coast, Rockhampton, PNG and SE Queensland team to become the new NRL franchise in 2013. Ahead of his visit to the city for the World Sports Expo next weekend, when Kimmorley will meet young players and man the NRL site at the Perth Exhibition Centre, he revealed the factors that would make or break a WA team.
“To be successful you have to get the right business people involved running the club, with vision and a business plan, the man affectionately known as Noddy said. “New clubs get to establish their own identity and culture. When they get it right they can be very successful.”
“I think a Perth franchise is a great idea. It would not only expand the game and make it truly national, it would also help sell TV rights, with an extra live game on offer. Ypu only have to look at the former western Reds to see the great fan base.”
Kimmorley said players, particularly marquee signings, would define the success of a start up. “It’s not just about buying players who can win football games” he said. “You have to get the right players for the business. These days you can’t afford and negative press and can’t have players who damage the brand. “You’ve also got to have people who embrace the home public and fans who are allowed to be part of a team by having a say in naming the club.”
Kimmorley sad with the backing of big business in Perth and a good junior development program, the city had the potential for a big future in the NRL.

LOL at that sentence. WA is one of the favourites for two positions, not the favourite for one position.

Nothing wrong with talking yourself up in the local paper!

No there isn't but they could at least say something along the lines of "the WA Reds are favourites to secure one of the two potential new positions in the NRL".

come on this is a Perth paper, they probably have no idea there will likely be two teams.

Then again if the Bears can claim to be "the superior bid" then I am quite ok with a paper laying claim to us being favourites!

lol bedsides the one poorly written sentence, this is great news for the WA Reds bid. While Noddy doesn't get much say as to what teams come into the comp. I seriously doubt noddy would be over there if WA weren't getting a team. Also the Dell help open a stadium over there a few months ago.

I don't think either of these events would of happened (i.e. League personalities attending) if the Reds weren't going to get a team.

I think the decision about WA has already been made.

To the smartarses out there, this is not from a source this is pure speculation.

Its not just the Bears claiming their bid to be "superior". That quote is attributed to the NRL chief operating officer, Graham Annesley.

Show us that quote from Graham mate, before somebody attacks you for not having a source.
