West Coast Pirates Bid News

LOL at how BDGS has turned on this bid in the light of Central Coast slipping to third in the race for expansion.

1. I have always supported and will continue to support the NRL's two best decision for expansion in 2013/14 which is the WA Reds and Central Coast Bears double.

What i brought up for PR to respond to, 1) has nothing to do with you and 2) was about concerns another person brought up to me, not what i thought, so here i am again telling you to get your facts right. Twice in the one day, woah.

2. You pretty much advertised the fact that these forums are much better enjoyed when you use the block function to block me out, mainly based on your inability to answer the holes i picked in most of your arguments, but nonetheless, interesting to see that magically that block function has been lifted and you can see my post again. Enjoy! :sarcasm:

oh ok, When you said "the Force, they have the jump on us and have alot more support from the ARU "i took it was the Force is backing the WA Reds and they have support of that move from the ARU. My bad for misinterpreting.

Just for clarification the Force are on the WA Reds bandwagon so to speak?

Also, what would you say to someone that think if this bid enters the NRL it will only last 10 years tops?

Thanks.

"the Force, they have the jump on us and have alot more support from the ARU "

How did you get that Western Force Rugby Union supports Western Reds Rugby League from this sentence??? Why would rugby back league, it's not in there interests. Not a lot of thought put into that ey..

And even after you sort yor interpretation out, you still somehow think the Force are on the bandwagon..? Not one of your best posts..

Well, the bolded word in the original quote is the word i skipped and for some reason read "jump" as "jumped".

Yes, I know it would be very abnormal for a Union team to jump on the bandwagon of a league team. That's why i raised it for clarification instead of taking my mis-read as fact.

If you are confused, better to ask about it then to just act like you know what it means.

New Reds to be favourites

Simon White (WA Today)

April 14, 2011 - 12:41PM

The bid team for WA's proposed new rugby league team - likely to be named the Reds - say they will carry the mantle of favourites when they pitch their case for an NRL spot in Sydney next month.

Project manager Ralph McManis told WAtoday.com.au that the bid for a Perth-based NRL side, at a cost of $300,000, was ready to be presented as soon as an invitation came from the league's new independent commission.

The formation of the NRL's independent commission has been a stop-start affair, but McManis said he had been told it could be completed within a week and that a decision on the league's prospective expansion would be one of its first tasks.

Perth is competing with Brisbane, Rockhampton, New South Wales' Central Coast and Wellington for what are projected to be two new spots in the NRL from 2013.
"I think we're the favourites. From what I've heard people are going around in the Eastern States saying Perth is already in and that the rest are competing for one spot,'' McManis said.

"But that's not to say we are counting our chickens before they have hatched. I'd expect we'll be presenting (to the commission) by either the second or third week of May.''

McManis said market research had indicated the Reds name, carried by WA's previous NRL and Super League team from 1995 to 1997, still had a strong resonance in the Perth market.

The bid team is currently market testing colours and logos and expects to finalise those details by the end of the month, although they may not be publicly revealed until the bid is presented.

McManis said the bid team hoped to know by the end of June whether its proposal had been successful, even if there is a decision to delay expansion until 2015.

McManis also revealed:
The proposed new "Reds" would cost $18 million per year to run
A target of 20,000 members has already been set
The club could be part public-owned, like the Brisbane Broncos
Several high profile coaches and players have already informally flagged an interest in joining the team, should it be accepted into the competition
The club would hope to sign an inaugural chief executive and coach during the second half of this year
"Headhunters" have already been appointed to identify potential coaching and administrative targets
A "Reds" team could feature in the existing NRL youth competition as soon as 2012 and might be based in the Eastern States.

Good positive media. Any thoughts on what our colours should be? I'll be doing a survey for Red Army members in the next newsletter on prefered colour choices.

Keep an eye out on the BarefootRL show as well for an interview with the Red Army.

Great positive news Perth Red, as for colours, Red & Gold of course. No other team has them, red is also known to be the most winning colour in sport and mixed with gold, it looks damn fine. And even though I am a Parra supporter, if they picked those colours with a V design, you never know, I might even buy one.

You really can’t beat this. It’s amazing.

The black+ yellow tie it nicely to WA and keeps up the tradition for expansion teams.
ie:
Broncos - Maroon for QLD
Storm - Navy blue for Vic
Warriors - Black for NZ
Here is a sandy yellow, I like it more than old gold.

YEh my fave as well. If not the red, black and gold/yellow, what other colour combinations would you consider a good choice for the WA Reds?

Red & Gold.

But personally, I prefer horizontal stripes rather than a V.

I disagree with Lockyer4President...NRL teams colours should not possess state colours. There is a difference.
