Those colours work so well. I especially like the club logo against a black blackground, like in the red and yellow jerseys.

In fact, I hope they go with designs similar to the red and yellow - plenty of black in the NRL with tigers, panthers, warriors.

Almost no red dominant colour jerseys - dragons and rabbitohs part red, dragons away only true red jersey. Great colour should be used more.

Yellow is the same - Broncos away only true yellow jersey.

What other colours is the NRL deficient in? Green?

Well, when companies do branding, they have a main logo, but then also use elements in isolation. I think the skull has potential there.

What's American about pirates? The original pirates were English and plundered Spanish gold around the Caribbean.

Those would be Privateers. Piracy is about as old as boats. The first time some fella put a raft on the water it probably occurred to his neighbour that he could nick the stuff on that boat!

As for the name, I get the reasons. Very marketable. I don't really rate it (There's never been much piracy on Australian Waters, primarily because there wasn't much of value until modern times) myself, and would have loved the reds back, but a Pirate is going to sell it more to kids than a kangaroo.
