I cannot believe the club lets Bateman return home because he misses his family,

but is happy to have him back for the next 2 seasons - I guess he won't miss them again !

He's playing under Burgess for the rest of the season, when Burgess returns to Sydney, what are the chances Bateman also turns up at Maroubra?
There has to be more to this.I will b surprised if he returns to OZ & b more surprised if Richos trip to uk wasn’t a very successful one

I'd say they offered him a release where his entire contract is voided but he's wanted some money paid out. We haven't wanted to do this obviously.

The resulting trip home I think is a ploy to get him back amongst family and friends and when the time comes to front up for training in November he'll say no thanks.

I hope it's this, as anything else makes no sense at all.

‘There’s been a blow-up’: Benji blue behind Bateman’s abrupt departure as axe lingered

“He let Benji know in no uncertain terms that he thinks Benji treats the senior players as though they’re rookies and he treats the rookies as though they’re senior players.

Perhaps they should play like senior players then.

No club would let go of a player they truly want to play for another club. The only instance I've seen where a club genuinely wanted to keep a player but loaned him was Harry Grant.....but there were some pretty unique circumstances of incredible hooking depth at the Storm at the time. I understand why they did it.

This move is to basically put Bateman at the shop front window for ESL clubs to hopefully buy.

I love how this article doesn't mention Stefano as one of our better players but mentions Pole. In some ways I want Stefano of our books. Bateman definitely should be off our books. I hope he doesn't come back.

At least if Kent was wrong he wasn’t as wide off the mark as Tellis..like in reference to the glass houses comment from Madge, Tellis says you can only judge slater as a coach not as a player .. yea sure Gordy like you can only be judged as a commentator..any more rubbish of that caliber then you should be arrested and removed from the panel

First thought that came to me when Tallis said ( in critiquing Maquires SOO coaching credentials) that Madge was so bog average that he couldn't even remember playing against him was Madge could and should have replied that he also couldn't remember coaching against Tallis at ANY level.

Bateman is contracted to the Tigers for 2025 and 2026 but it’s expected that he will be released from those remaining two seasons and he will stay in the Super League.
------------------
I wonder what that's going to cost the club.
Though, probably worth it.

Seyfarth was charged with Grade 1 Dangerous Contact and faces a fine of $1800 if he pleads guilty or $2500 if she unsuccessfully challenges the charge at the NRL judiciary.

Key points from Richo
* Injuries to key players have cruelled our chances this year...really what players, Api maybe.
* You need 17 players capable of winning a grand final to win a grand final and we gave 9........who are those 9?
* We are planning to make the top 8.........not with this roster atm.
* we have a $2mil war chest and a bit more with Bateman going for the season. We plan to recruit more quality player.....thanks sounds good.
* Re Stefano we don't want players who aren't fully committed.....that's good and probably why we didn't chase him.
* Bulldogs 3 years ago got players then released players and now they look balanced and giving the finals a shot and that's what we have to do....I agree with this.
All and all a great interview, I feel a little bit better after hearing him talk.
The new phrase for next year is "The Crocodile Roll" ....fight to the death.
