Manly were the best team by a mile between 95-97. We beat them.

I think you'll find that 5 of the top 8 teams from 1996 were ARL teams.

I personally dont count either as premiership wins. Both were half hearted comps, and their no real way other than opinions to conclude who was truely the best team that year.

My opinion is the Knights 97 were a damn fine team but Brisbane would of spank their arses.

Knights in Grandfinals are a whole different team, we didnt win both finals with skill, both were won with passion and desire imo.

Manly were an even better team then Brisbane that year.

No one would have beaten us on that day. Most agree.

what a load of crap.
No team would have beaten newcastle that day
The knights won with 25 secs to go!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, comprehensive win that
Brisbane backed up their "1/2comp" 1997 with a dominate display in 1998.
Manly were a great team in 1997, but there were no better than the Broncos.

Sad thing is noone can say who was better, Broncos didnt verse Knight in a Grand Final that year, so noone can really say 'we were better'. Grand final is a whole different game when teams are in it.

Yeh but it was almost like our destiny to win like that.

Put Brisbane infront of us and Johns and Albert would have done the same thing.

You can't deny that Manly were the number one side from either comp.

The ARL in '97 was like the Jim Beam Cup, Cronulla and Brisbane would have shat all over Manly and Newcastle.

And the Wests 7-6 win over Penrith must have been an entertaining win, probably the lowest scoring match in history.

No i think you'll find that there has been a couple of 0-0 games. There was also a 1-0 game and the lowest scoring grand final was 4-2, Parramatta vs Canterbury.

Not that it matters because with a comment like
The ARL in '97 was like the Jim Beam Cup, Cronulla and Brisbane would have shat all over Manly and Newcastle.

your credibility was left at the door.

38 years......

At least our future doesn't look bleak!

Get a leagues club for starters.

Great comeback, Sullyfan:D

Kinights fans should get off the sharks back. At least they are winning games and playing a great brand of footy.

Knights fans are beginning to resemble Canberra fans before this season - fans who live in the past, because the present is so miserable.

Tama, there's been a 0-0 and a 1-0.

(Ken Wilson - Rex:p )

7-6 aint even close and because that match had the Magpies in it and we won, it was a great game.

That'd probably explain why Cronulla followed 6 ARL clubs home in 1998.

Super League was Brisbane, then daylight, then daylight again, then daylight again, then Cronulla.

It was as watchable as any AFL game.

Indeed, 3 of 8 SL teams made up the eight in 1996, and only 3 of 10 in 1998, so without direct comparison, going by that, the ARL comp was slightly stronger.

That was a lame comeback from Chokefan.

At least Knights & Canberra fans have a memory that includes their team in it.

Sharks fans=Amco cup only.

Wests Tigers fans=amalgamated sh!tpile!
